The Opportunity
We are seeking a talented and creative front-end developer with a strong focus on UI/UX design to join our hybrid team in Espoo, Finland. In this role,you will help design and implement intuitive, visually appealing, and highly functional user interfaces for our next-generation database products and tools. Your work will directly influence how developers, DBAs, and businesses interact with one of the world’s most trusted relational database platforms.

Responsibilities
- Design, prototype, and implement user-friendly, accessible, and visually engaging interfaces for MariaDB’s database management and monitoring products.
- Collaborate closely with product management, engineering, and marketing teams to gather requirements, define user journeys, and translate them into intuitive design solutions.
- Build responsive front-end components and applications primarily using Vue.js.
- Apply best practices in UI/UX design to ensure a consistent and delightful experience across all customer-facing products.
- Stay informed on the latest industry trends, technologies, and best practices in UI/UX design and front-end development.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in front-end development, specifically for complex web applications.
- Strong proficiency in Vue.js, JavaScript, and associated testing frameworks.
- Solid understanding of UI/UX principles and hands-on experience implementing designs from wireframes to polished final products.
- Familiarity with SQL databases, in particular MariaDB or MySQL.
- Familiarity with back-end development concepts and ability to collaborate effectively with back-end engineers.
Bonus Experience and Skills
- Experience designing and developing for technical user bases such as developers, sysadmins, and DBAs.
- Knowledge of database management concepts, tools, and workflows.
- Experience working with RESTful APIs
- Experience of using and developing on Linux
- Experience of building and using C++ programs.
- Understanding of accessibility (WCAG) guidelines and best practices for inclusive design.
- Familiarity with DevOps tools and observability platforms.
- Prior experience working in open-source or enterprise software environments.
- Contributions to open-source projects related to UI/UX, front-end development, or database technologies.
- Experience with monitoring and visualization tools such as Grafana, and working with charting libraries like D3.js and Chart.js.
- Experience with Prometheus for metrics collection and visualization.
Location
Espoo, Finland (Hybrid, onsite 1-2 days per week)
