Senior Migration Consultant

The Opportunity
We are seeking a Senior Migration Consultant with strong expertise in Oracle PL/SQL, MariaDB/MySQL, and/or PostgreSQL to support enterprise-grade database migrations to MariaDB. In this role, you will work with a highly skilled team focused on delivering strategic migration solutions and architecting scalable, high-availability database environments using the MariaDB portfolio.
Responsibilities

- Plan and perform database migrations from Oracle, MySQL, SQL Server, and other platforms to MariaDB
- Analyse source systems and define appropriate strategies for schema, procedure, and data migration
- Refactor and convert proprietary or custom database logic into MariaDB-compatible equivalents
- Design and implement scalable and optimised database solutions
- Develop and maintain migration tools, scripts, and documentation
- Lead and contribute to technical scoping and assessment of migration projects
Qualifications

- 8+ years of experience in database development and administration (Oracle, plus at least one of the following: MariaDB, MySQL or PostgreSQL)
- Strong command of SQL, PL/SQL, and other procedural languages
- Hands-on experience in designing and implementing database architectures
- Proficient in scripting within a linux environment using any of Perl, Bash, Java, Python or similar languages
- Understanding of ETL workflows, data modelling, and normalisation
- Proficiency in query optimisation, execution plans, and SQL tuning
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a learning mindset
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to work directly with clients
Preferred Experience and Skills

- Experience with database migration tools or automation frameworks
- Familiarity with cloud-native databases and deployment models
- Exposure to DevOps practices and CI/CD for database pipelines
