The Fund Administration team comprises a number of focused sub-teams supporting the operational governance of Man’s 300+ fund entities. Primary activities comprise of fund financial statements production oversight & review, service provider management & governance, closure/ liquidation of fund entities and the oversight of transfer agency activities performed by third-party administrators.
This role will primarily focus on fund financial statements and on the liquidation of fund entities. Using a combination of financial reporting and fund operating knowledge the successful candidate will play a key role in the efficient and accurate delivery of the team.
Responsibilities
- Review draft fund financial statements for accuracy, consistency and completeness in line with the relevant reporting standards.
- Co-ordinate financial statements production and audit oversight. Including reporting & audit timetables, tracking of financial statement production against those timetables, facilitating the resolution of issues and monitoring the status of the audits to ensure that deadlines are met.
- Present to fund directors on financial reporting and audit progress; explaining and clarifying issues identified as well as co-ordinating fund board sign off.
- Support the end-to-end fund closure and liquidation process. Manage fund entities’ passage from final NAV through to strike-off or liquidator appointment
- Work to streamline and standardise legacy liquidation processes across all fund structures, identifying opportunities to consolidate pre-existing workflows into a single, structured approach.
- Operate class actions process, working with claims agents to identify data that supports opportunities to claim, and facilitate business decisions on claims participation.
- Support Man Group Operations’ departmental budgeting & forecasting.
- Execute planned and ad hoc analysis and projects withing the Fund Administration team.
- Facilitate the production of regular and ad hoc internal reports for management, committees etc; including tracking of deliverables and escalation of issues.
Technical Competencies
- Qualified Chartered Accountant, or a part-qualified Chartered Accountant with similar experience.
- Experience of fund financial statements preparation, fund audit, or other role involving technical review of draft financial statements.
- Strong academic background in finance, accounting or numerate discipline.
- Demonstrated ability to learn new concepts quickly
- Understanding of fund accounting and valuation of financial instruments
- Excellence in stakeholder management and communication at all levels
- Interest in financial markets and motivation to build a career in the industry
