Man Group is establishing a new Middle Office team in Sofia, Bulgaria, as part of our global strategy. This represents an exciting opportunity to join a growing international function as we build out capabilities across multiple sites. The Sofia team will work closely with our established London and Boston teams and will comprise various levels from Analyst to Manager. Several positions have already been filled as we continue to build this dynamic team, and we are now seeking additional talented individuals to join us in this exciting phase of development.
Purpose of role:
The Middle Office team is responsible for Security pricing controls, NAV (Net Asset Valuation) calculations, fee modelling, and portfolio rebalancing across Feeder/Master/Multi Book structures, as well as setting trading levels and instructing FX hedges related to client capital flows. As a Senior Analyst, the role involves independently running key operational processes while providing guidance and support to junior team members. The team develops tools and reporting solutions, widely used across the firm, primarily using Excel, Python and internal databases to deliver critical reporting and analytics. The Senior Analyst demonstrates proven technical expertise and actively contributes to process improvements and team development.
Responsibilities:
Core Operations:
- Independently lead review and analysis of financial products and derivatives, including their pricing and profit/loss calculations with both vendor Data (eg Bloomberg) and internal systems.
- Take ownership of daily operational processes including NAV calculations, Fund Budget Reviews, reconciliations and risk-based controls.
- Work with various internal tools and databases to deliver reporting and analytics
- Lead process improvement initiatives and automation projects
Stakeholder Engagement:
- Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external partners
- Represent the team on cross-functional projects and initiatives
Leadership & Development:
- Provide guidance and mentorship to junior analysts
- Share knowledge and best practices with team members
- Contribute ideas and initiatives to senior management
Technical & Professional Development:
- Take initiative in identifying and implementing process improvements
- Learn and utilize programming tools to enhance team processes and reporting
- Stay current with industry developments and regulatory changes
- Contribute to the strategic direction of the team
Technical Competencies
Essential Skills and Qualities:
- Strong analytical mindset with proven ability to solve complex problems independently
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and lead others
- Strong communication skills with confidence to guide and mentor team members
- Strong academic background in a quantitative or analytical field (Mathematics, Finance and Accounting, Physics, Engineering, Computer Science, or any data/finance-oriented disciplines)
- Interest in financial markets and commitment to career development in the industry
- Professional qualifications (CFA, accounting qualifications) or studying towards
- Python programming (or similar languages), SQL or database experience
- Familiarity with Git/Bitbucket or other version control systems
