Engineering Manager

Gdańsk, Pomeranian Voivodeship, Poland

Banking is moving out of banks and becoming a part of customers’ daily digital lives. Inbank’s financing solutions are embedded seamlessly into the shopping journey of 5,000+ retailers. This helps our merchant partners to grow their businesses while end customers get to benefit from a frictionless shopping experience wherever they are. With a focus on innovation and growth, we are looking for talented people to join our team of 300+ people working across our offices in Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, and the Czech Republic.

Due to our growth ambitions, we are looking for a talented Engineering Manager to join the team.

As the Engineering Manager for the Credit Risk and Compliance tribe, your focus is on leading teams in building solutions to assess customers’ credit worthiness and compliance with local and European regulatory requirements.
Depending on the team, this varies from building local registry connections and developing a scalable, high-efficiency credit decision engine, to assessing contract signing options, sanctions lists, and KYC solutions to support this. This requires both strong technical and product-thinking skills as it’s not only about solving the problems correctly but also solving the correct problems.

You will work closely with teams’ Tech Leads and Product Managers to help the teams select and deliver the most valuable initiatives, providing guidance and cross-tribe alignment where needed. Your daily tasks will include coaching and mentoring Tech Leads, helping them build their teams and ensuring a good balance between tech and product investment. You will lead a culture of technical excellence and sharing knowledge to build long-lasting solutions and tackle technical debt. You are ready to step in if needed, whether to drive an initiative or lead a project from the tech side.

To be successful in the role, you bring ideally the following skills with you:

  • Excellent communication skills including the ability to say “No” convincingly
  • Leadership and team-building experience, including hiring-related activities
  • Ability to grasp technical concepts quickly from various areas
  • Experience with product development
  • Strong appreciation for having an efficient development process, including clear documentation, reliable planning, and test automation
  • Back-end development experience, ideally with Java
  • Experience with complex systems requiring input from a variety of sources
  • Previous experience in credit assessment and/or regulatory compliance developments
  • Bonus points if you have experience with monitoring and alerting tools and setting up an efficient team process.

Our offer to you:

  • Competitive salary based on your experience and a great benefits package
  • Hybrid, agile, and autonomous working environment
  • Sports compensation/additional health insurance, and extra vacation after 3rd year of employment
  • Based on the performance a 6-week paid sabbatical after 4 years of working at Inbank
  • Interesting and challenging working environment with opportunities to develop professionally
  • Team events and personalised training plan

At Inbank we strive to have an inclusive and diverse working environment, so we welcome you to apply even if you do not match all the points here but think you would do well.
