How You’ll Make an Impact:
- Lead, mentor, and scale multiple backend/fullstack engineering teams driving Delasport’s sports product line.
- Manage team leads and senior engineers, providing technical guidance, coaching, and career development.
- Shape and own the backend technical vision, ensuring alignment with sports roadmap, product strategy, and long-term platform evolution.
- Stay hands-on at a strategic level by conducting architecture reviews, guiding design patterns, and influencing key engineering decisions.
- Oversee delivery of large-scale, real-time sports betting and data ingestion systems with high throughput and ultra-low latency.
- Ensure architectural standards, clean coding principles, and engineering excellence across all services and components.
- Drive end-to-end delivery across several parallel backend tracks—defining milestones, managing dependencies, and ensuring execution.
- Champion backend best practices in distributed systems, microservices, DevOps, observability, performance, and secure development.
- Collaborate closely with Product, Data, Sports Trading, DevOps, QA, and Security to deliver reliable, compliant, and scalable solutions.
- Drive improvements in engineering velocity, code quality, and developer experience using modern tooling and automation.
Tech stack You`ll touch:
- Languages & Frameworks: Java (Spring Boot), PHP 8+, Laravel/Symfony, Node.js, Nest.js
- Architecture: Event-driven systems, microservices, pub/sub messaging, streaming pipelines
- Messaging & Data Streaming: Kafka, RabbitMQ
- Databases: MySQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Redis, Memcached
- Infrastructure & DevOps: Kubernetes, Docker, Helm, Terraform/Pulumi, CI/CD, Git
- Observability: Prometheus, Grafana, Elasticsearch, Jaeger, OpenTelemetry
- Sports Systems: Odds feeds, data aggregation pipelines, live match data processing (nice-to-have)
Who You Are:
- 8+ years in backend engineering with deep experience in Java or PHP ecosystems (both preferred).
- 2-4+ years leading multiple backend teams, ideally in iGaming, sportsbook, fintech, or other high-load real-time industries.
- Strong knowledge of distributed systems, concurrency, design patterns, and scalable backend architectures.
- Hands-on understanding of microservices, event-driven design, caching strategies, and high-performance API development.
- Experience with message brokers and streaming systems (Kafka/RabbitMQ).
- Strategic thinker who can define long-term architecture vision while being able to dive into technical details when needed.
- Excellent communicator, capable of influencing senior stakeholders and motivating engineering teams.
Nice to have:
- Experience building sports betting engines or sports-data-related pipelines.
- Knowledge of real-time odds aggregation or third-party sports feed integrations.
- Experience with performance tuning in Java or PHP and SQL query optimization.
