Senior HR Generalist, APAC

Sydney

Senior HR Generalist (APAC)

The Senior HR Generalist for APAC is a key member of the global People Services function, responsible for delivering consistent, high-quality HR support to employees and managers across the full employee lifecycle.  Working under the direction of the Director, People Services (based in the US), this role provides hands-on HR advisory, case management, and operational delivery — ensuring that Convera’s People processes are executed effectively, compliantly, and with empathy.

This role is based in Sydney (hybrid role, split between modern CBD office with water & city views & WFH) and provides support to employees and managers across the APAC region, including Australia, India, Singapore, New Zealand, Japan, and Hong Kong.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Employee Relations & Case Management:

  • Serve as the primary HR contact for employees and people managers within assigned region.
  • Provide balanced, compliant, and empathetic HR advice on employee relations (ER), performance management, and policy interpretation.
  • Act as a trusted consultant in ER and performance cases — guiding managers through issue diagnosis, documentation, and resolution.
  • Manage ER cases end-to-end, from when a concern is raised, to conducting an effective investigation, and delivering recommendations, including disciplinary action.

Employee Lifecycle Management:

  • Deliver operational excellence across onboarding, mobility, promotions, performance, and offboarding processes.
  • Partner with HR Tech, Payroll, Benefits, and other COEs to ensure seamless execution of employee transactions and changes.
  • Identify recurring issues or inefficiencies and suggest improvements to streamline workflows and enhance employee experience.

Compliance & Risk Management:

  • Ensure all HR activities and decisions comply with relevant labor laws, internal policies, and audit requirements.
  • Maintain accurate HR documentation and data integrity across all employee records and systems.

Employee Experience & Engagement

  • Deliver HR services with empathy and clarity, ensuring every interaction reflects Convera’s values.
  • Support the execution of engagement and well-being initiatives within the region.

Continuous Improvement & Collaboration:

  • Contribute to projects aimed at standardization, automation, or simplification of HR processes.
  • Proactively share knowledge and best practices to build functional capability and cohesion across regions.

Qualifications and Experience required:

  • 5+ years of experience in an HR Generalist, People Advisor, or HR Operations role within a global or matrixed organization, preferably with experience in an international role spanning multiple APAC countries.
  • Strong knowledge of local labor and employment laws and ability to interpret and apply policies in context
  • Proven ability to manage employee relations cases effectively and confidentially.
  • Excellent interpersonal, influencing, and communication skills; capable of coaching and guiding people managers.
  • Demonstrated attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and high data accuracy.
  • Experience using HRIS platforms and working across time zones in distributed teams.
  • Experience contributing to HR process improvements or automation initiatives preferred.

You are/have:

  • A trusted advisor who combines operational precision with empathy.
  • Confident guiding managers through people matters with balanced judgment.
  • Curious and proactive in identifying better ways to deliver HR support.
  • A collaborative team player who thrives in a fast-paced, scaling organization.
  • Values-driven, detail-oriented, and committed to continuous improvement.
  • Full permanent working rights in Australia
