About the Role

Are you a seasoned Product Manager with a deep understanding of SaaS products and a passion for measuring and reporting on product and feature usage, deployment success, adoption, and consumption metrics? Cognite is seeking a Senior Product Manager to join our growing team in Bangalore to lead the addition of usage analytics to our SaaS product Cognite Data Fusion (CDF). This is a unique opportunity to build and lead the future of our CDF, making industrial data ops seamless and intelligent.

As a Senior Product Manager for Cognite Data Fusion Cloud Deployments Department, you'll be instrumental in shaping the strategy and execution for how we monitor and track how users work with CDF. This role extends beyond traditional product management; we're seeking someone who can drive innovation, particularly through the application of artificial intelligence, to revolutionize the user experience for consuming and deploying CDF across new customers and industries. You will work with a team responsible for metering and setting limits on services and applications in CDF. The team delivers data to finance, sales, customers, partners, and product management to help stakeholders make informed decisions about rolling out CDF in organizations, upselling SaaS contracts, invoicing, deploying new functionality, and evaluating the success of new features. Your contribution will be to ensure that we focus on the right signals to measure, provide the best metrics and analytics to support stakeholders, and ensure sufficient data quality to support informed decisions. You'll be among the first Product Managers in our Bangalore office, with the potential to grow into a leadership role as we build out a dedicated team around you.

How you’ll demonstrate Ownership

  • Own the Product Vision: Define and champion the product vision and roadmap for Usage analytics in CDF, focusing on understanding customer value, cloud cost, feature adoption, and user engagement.
  • Understand User Needs: Conduct in-depth user research to understand how different industries and customers measure user adoption and value realization from SaaS products.  Translate these insights into actionable product requirements. Understand metrics needed to drive adoption, analyze usage patterns, and report on consumption and cloud usage. Enable customers, partners, as well as internal stakeholders to understand how they are performing in deploying/rolling out the CDF SaaS product in organizations.
  • Drive AI Innovation: Lead the charge in integrating artificial intelligence to simplify understanding user behavior, customer usage, and adoption. Imagine a user flow where AI analyzes raw industrial data payloads and intelligently reports on the usage to the customer, product team, or account teams.
  • Prioritize for Impact: Utilize your product management discipline to structure knowledge, analyze usage data, and prioritize features based on business and customer impact, rather than personal preferences.
  • Collaborate and Influence: Work closely with engineering, design, and other product teams to deliver high-quality solutions. You'll also influence stakeholders across the organization with your deep domain expertise.
  • Be a Hands-On Leader: This is an individual contributor role where you'll roll up your sleeves and directly contribute to product strategy and execution. As the team grows, you'll have the opportunity to lead and mentor other product managers.
  • Be an Industry Evangelist: Make our Metrics team in India the most exciting team at Cognite by driving innovative solutions that truly understand and cater to industrial user needs.

The Impact you bring to Cognite

  • Experience: 6+ years in SaaS product management roles, with a strong focus on industrial software, usage analytics, adoption metrics and service consumption.
  • Strong understanding of SaaS usage metrics, cloud consumption, billing models, and customer value drivers.
  • Familiarity with compliance frameworks (e.g., SOX, SOC2) and secure data handling.
  • Experience working with designers and engineers to ship dashboards or analytics features.
  • working experience with SaaS Usage Analytics and SaaS Consumption metering using tools like Mixpanel, Qrvey, ThoughtSpot, Datadog, Moesif, Tinybird or similar.
  • Product Management Mastery: Proven ability to define product vision, build roadmaps, gather requirements, and prioritize features to deliver significant customer and business value. Establish product wide best practices for measurement of success metrics for any feature across the product.
  • User-Centric Mindset: A genuine passion for understanding user needs and designing intuitive, easy-to-use solutions for complex technical problems.
  • Technical Fluency: You should be able to engage in deep technical discussions with engineers and understand the intricacies of data payloads and industrial systems.
  • Strategic Thinker: Ability to connect current customer challenges with future trends and technologies to build a compelling long-term product strategy.
  • Leadership Potential: While initially an individual contributor, you should have the ambition and capability to grow into a leadership role, potentially building and leading a team of product managers in India.
  • Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills to articulate complex ideas clearly to diverse audiences.
  • Travel: Willingness to undertake occasional travel to our Oslo and US offices as needed.
