Scientist, Medical Writing (MD)

The Medical Writer acts as a team member supporting and executing the creation and updating of Clinical Evaluation Reports (CER), Summary of Safety and Clinical Performance Reports (SSCP), State of the Art Reviews (SOA) and Systematic Literature Reviews (LRR) for their assigned therapeutic area within Depuy Synthes.
Main Job Tasks and Responsibilities:
- Responsible for writing CERs, SSCPs, SOAs, and LRRs.
- Participates in core process steps for systematic literature reviews including search, screen, data extraction, analysis, and synthesis of the literature.
- Responsible for summarizing clinical data, non-clinical data, regulatory information, and other pieces of information specific to medical devices to ultimately perform a risk/benefit analysis on the device.
- Responsible for comparing the safety and performance of the device to the state of the art and investigating any unexpected outcomes.
- Responsible for utilizing a variety of software systems to create the required documents, including, but not limited to, Microsoft Office, EndNote, Distiller, Wrike, and assorted in-house AI tools.
- Responsible for following all applicable procedures, guidelines and regulatory requirements.
- Actively partners with cross-functional business partners such as Medical Directors, Post Market Surveillance, Design Quality Engineers, R&D, and Regulatory Affairs.
- Responsible for communicating business related issues or opportunities to next management level.
- Responsible for following all Company guidelines related to Health, Safety and Environmental practices as applicable.
Education and Experience:
- At least Bachelor of science or equivalent degree in any health-related or scientific field.
- 1-2 years of CER writing experience required.
- Experience with medical devices preferred.
