As a Sr. Media Relations Specialist at “the company”, your primary role involves spearheading media relations endeavors within the local market. Your core responsibility will be to foster connections with journalists, editors, bloggers, and content creators, establishing robust partnerships across diverse media platforms to amplify our distribution network and elevate the success of our clients through our suite of services.
Principal Responsibilities:
- Build and maintain strong relationships with media professionals, including journalists, editors, influencers, bloggers, and digital content creators across local region.
- Identify and onboard new media partners to expand “the company’s” local distribution channels, including online media, niche publications, and digital platforms.
- Proactively manage existing media partnerships, ensuring ongoing engagement, data accuracy, and mutual value.
- Collaborate with client services and marketing teams to ensure client needs are aligned with evolving media outreach and coverage opportunities.
- Provide local media insights and feedback to support regional audience development strategy.
- Track partnership performance and contribute to internal reporting and media engagement metrics.
- Other duties as assigned.
Job Level Specifications:
- Thorough knowledge of principles, theories and concepts in area of discipline. Competent in all job functions and has a general understanding of the industry’s practices, techniques and standards.
- Develops solutions for a variety of situations and works on projects requiring evaluation and analysis. May refer to policies, practices and precedents for guidance; determines best course of action to achieve results.
- Work is performed independently and requires the exercise of judgment and discretion. May receive some limited guidance for new assignments. Work may be reviewed for overall adequacy.
- Collaborates with management and team members within the department/function and other areas of the organization. May represent department internally or externally.
- Actions may impact on the success of the overall department and/or the organization. Failure to accomplish work or erroneous decisions may result in delays to projects, loss of revenue or allocation of additional resources to remedy.
Experience:
- Typically, 5+ years with a university degree preferred or equivalent.
