Legal Counselor
About the Role
Bradken is a leading solutions provider and global manufacturer of innovative products custom designed for the global mining resources sector. With a workforce of more than 4,000 people, our ability to adapt and evolve firmly positions us as global leaders in the mining wear solutions market.
We are seeking a proactive, self-sufficient Legal Counsel to drive legal operations and commercial negotiations across our South American business. Based in Lima, this role provides critical legal support across our strategic South American sites, which encompass our regional office, foundry, and manufacturing plant operations.
You will not just be an advisor; you will be a strategic partner to our core business units (Sales, Sourcing, Engineering, and Procurement). This role is designed for a sharp legal professional who thrives in a fast-paced industrial environment and wants to make a tangible impact on core business negotiations.
Key Responsibilities
- Core Business Negotiation: Draft, review, and negotiate complex commercial agreements, ensuring a strong focus on protecting the business from external risks.
- Stakeholder Collaboration: Actively build strong, weekly connections with key local and regional stakeholders across Sourcing, Engineering, Sales, and Procurement teams.
- Commercial Dispute Management: Confidently handle commercial disputes and claims, providing clear judgment, strategic advice, and actionable solutions.
- External Counsel Management: Act as the bridge with external law firms for specialized matters (such as complex labor law), while handling day-to-day legal operations internally.
- Influence & Governance: Deliver legal advice with a level of presence, credibility, and authority that ensures internal operational teams take legal guidance seriously.
Who You Are (Requirements)
- Experience: 5+ years of legal practice, with non-negotiable experience in an industrial, technical, heavy manufacturing, mining, or engineering environment. We welcome candidates coming directly from an in-house role or from a top-tier law firm advising technical/industrial clients.
- Profile: A "middle to senior-level" professional who is highly flexible, self-motivated, and eager to learn and grow within a global organization. You must possess the "gravitas" and strength of presence to influence business decisions.
- Skills: Exceptional contract drafting and negotiation skills with a proven ability to exercise sound independent judgment.
- Languages: Native Spanish and fluent English (written and spoken).
- Work Style: Exceptionally self-sufficient, capable of organizing your own weekly schedule, and proactive in identifying operational risks
This role is based in Lima (Hybrid role with occasional visit to the foundry and plant)
Deadline to apply: Please apply before 31st May (Applications need to be in English)
