The role

Ideal candidate will demonstrate a proven track record of developing production-facing, reliable, scalable, data pipelines in enterprise environment.  We are seeking creative thinkers who demonstrate curiousity and an appreciation for elegant, efficient solutions to solving data processing tasks  as a means to express their intellectual curiosity and analytical voice. Those same individuals appreciate rigorous, tested solutions, and best practices throughout the SDLC. Valtech will provide a platform and training to help them reach their full potential.

Role responsibilities

  • Analyze large volumes of raw, complex data to generate meaningful insights for enterprise-level clients, ensuring performant and reliable code. 
  • Design and engineer scalable ETL pipelines, data workflows, and analytical products that support data-driven decision-making. 
  • Communicate analytical findings clearly and visually through compelling storytelling, dashboards, and presentations.  
  • Develop highly interactive dashboards using Tableau, Power BI, or custom web applications. 
  • Build and maintain data infrastructure, software libraries, and APIs supporting BI and ML pipelines. 
  • Architect and optimize cloud data platform components, with a strong focus on Azure services (e.g., Data Lake, Data Factory, Databricks, Synapse). 
  • Manage and track project timelines, dependencies, risks, and deliverables. 
  • Collaborate with stakeholders—including those in banking, credit, or financial audit environments—to gather requirements and conduct technical due diligence. 
  • Design pragmatic, scalable solutions tailored to complex financial data ecosystems. 

 

Must have qualifications

To be considered for this role, you must meet the following essential qualifications: 

  • Proven industry experience delivering projects in data engineering, analytics, or data science, AND Bachelor’s/Master’s in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Informatics, or related quantitative fields. 
  • Hands-on proficiency in SQL and Python, capable of taking data from ingestion to insight. 
  • Strong experience with Azure Cloud,data integrations, ETL, feature engineering/featire stores, data catalog, Purview.   
  • Upper-intermediate English communication skills. 
  • Advanced Portuguese communication skills. 

 

Nice to have qualifications  

  • Proven experience working with Databricks in data engineering or advanced analytics contexts.  
  • Proficiency with visualization tools (Tableau, Power BI) or Looker 
  • Experience working in big data ecosystems using Spark, Hive, Impala, Pig, or similar. 
  • Proficiency in cloud architecture components across Azure (preferred), AWS, or GCP.
  • Experience with orchestration tools like Airflow, Luigi, or Prefect. 
  • Ability to transform raw data and ambiguous business questions into clear analytical approaches and actionable insights. 
  • Experience applying statistical or machine learning libraries appropriately to solve real business problems. 
  • Prior experience with technical decision ownership or managing technical specifications development data, analytics, or ML projects. 
  • Experience working with clients or stakeholders in the Banking industry, Credit Bureaus, or financial audit environments.
  • MS Certifications considered a plus: Azure Data Factory, MS Fabric, Data Governance Professional, etc.
