About Economist Pro

Economist Pro is the B2B arm of The Economist, helping organisations make better decisions through trusted, data-led reporting and analysis. Our organisational subscriptions bring together The Economist’s insight with workplace integrations, including API access, to support leaders navigating geopolitical, economic and business change.

The Opportunity

We are looking for a strategic, commercially minded leader to help Economist Pro set its direction, focus on the priorities that matter most and deliver against them.

You will report to the SVP of Economist Pro and work closely with the leadership team to shape strategy, turn it into executable plans, drive progress across a portfolio of critical initiatives and improve organisational effectiveness.

This role combines strategic problem-solving, programme leadership and hands-on delivery. It is strategic and delivery-focused rather than administrative, and is designed for someone who is equally comfortable shaping the conversation and ensuring decisions translate into action.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Thinking Partnership

  • Act as a strategic thinking partner to the leadership of Economist Pro, helping to shape ideas ahead of wider team discussion.
  • Support the development of early-stage ideas into structured plans, papers and decision briefs.
  • Provide an independent perspective, testing the strength of thinking and the deliverability of plans.

Key Initiative Ownership and Programme Management

  • Support the leadership team to set and refresh priorities, identify dependencies and make trade-offs across the portfolio.
  • Establish proportionate governance, decision forums and success measures for major initiatives.
  • Ensure initiatives deliver measurable business outcomes, not simply completed activity.
  • Take ownership of the key initiatives tracker across Growth, Customer and Culture.
  • Hold direct responsibility for a number of initiatives, while providing programme oversight across the remainder.
  • Run the biweekly review cadence, tracking progress against each named owner and maintaining an accurate view of status, risks and dependencies.
  • Act as a key liaison with legal and finance teams where necessary.
  • Escalate risks and blockers to the SVP with clear recommendations.
  • Ensure every initiative has a named owner and a defined next milestone.

Team Strategy and Culture

  • Design and facilitate strategic and cultural activities that support team cohesion, including strategy development sessions and team days.
  • Lead initiatives to build and monitor team success measures and internal communications, tracking survey results and acting on findings.

Performance Reporting

  • Develop a concise, decision-oriented view of business performance, strategic initiative progress and organisational health.
  • Identify trends, opportunities and risks, recommending actions or decisions required from the leadership team.
  • Analyse reporting on business and team performance, translating findings into clear recommendations to support decision-making.

Experience, Skills and Attributes

Experience

  • Experience in strategy, commercial operations, transformation, chief of staff, consulting, or in-house programme or project leadership.
  • Experience in a subscription, B2B, media or information-services environment would be advantageous.
  • A track record of leading a portfolio of projects through to completion in a complex, matrixed organisation, including managing stakeholders outside direct reporting lines.
  • Experience influencing senior leaders through ambiguity, including helping groups reach decisions on contentious priorities or trade-offs.

Skills

  • Skilled at operating as both a strategic thinking partner and a hands-on delivery owner.
  • Strong programme management skills, with the ability to bring structure, pace and accountability to complex initiatives.
  • Strong facilitation skills, with experience designing and running sessions that shape team strategy and culture.
  • Effective at building relationships and influencing across sales, editorial, product and data functions.
  • Strong analytical skills, with the ability to translate data into clear recommendations and hold owners to agreed deadlines.
  • Clear and confident written and verbal communication skills, particularly with senior stakeholders.

The majority of our roles operate on a hybrid working pattern, with 3+ days office attendance required.
