About the opportunity
As Commercial Director at Teads Japan, you’ll be a trusted advisor to clients, a mentor to the team, and a key collaborator across the organization.
Reporting directly to the Country Manager, you’ll lead the charge in scaling our presence with top-tier advertisers and agencies, driving strategic growth, long-term partnerships, and bold thinking. You’ll bring a strong commercial instinct, an entrepreneurial mindset, and the ability to operate seamlessly across traditional and digital landscapes.
What will you do
- Drive Teads’ expansion with key agencies and brands, establishing trusted relationships across senior levels.
- Own the full sales cycle - identify, pitch, and close deals that drive real business outcomes.
- Champion our advertising solutions by connecting client challenges with Teads’ market-leading formats and insights.
- Act as a strategic partner to clients, continuously exploring opportunities for account growth and innovation.
- Lead by example: coach and guide the sales, account management, campaign management team with clear strategy, performance insights, and mentorship.
- Partner with internal teams (Campaign Management, Account Management Studio, Data & Insights, and Tech) to shape high-performing campaigns.
- Build tailored pitch materials and RFP responses that resonate and win.
- Negotiate contracts with a sharp commercial lens and deep understanding of client goals.
- Ensure healthy, predictable revenue through disciplined pipeline management and accurate forecasting.
- Stay ahead of market trends, translating insights into action for both the team and clients.
About You
- 10+ years of sales experience, with at least 5 years in a leadership role driving agency and brand success.
- Experience working with domestic agencies and a background in new business development are essential.
- Strong understanding of the digital landscape and programmatic is a must.
- Technically savvy, with solid knowledge of ad-serving systems, tracking technologies, and measurement solutions.
- Established relationships within the Japanese advertising ecosystem, from media agencies and trading desks to key brand stakeholders is essential.
- Proven track record of closing large accounts and consistently exceeding revenue goals.
- Requires full professional fluency in Japanese and the ability to communicate effectively in English for global collaboration.
- The ideal candidate is comfortable communicating with stakeholders at all levels and confident in engaging new clients.
- A collaborative leader who empowers teams, builds trust, and thrives in fast-paced environments.
- A strategic storyteller who can simplify the complex, and a negotiator who sees the win-win.
