At SurePay, we’re on a mission to make payments safer and smarter. We’ve already processed over 10 billion IBAN-Name Checks, working with nearly all banks in the Netherlands and 300+ corporates across Europe.

We’re growing fast and with that comes more complexity, more transactions, and more responsibility on our finance team. That’s where you come in.

We’re looking for a Finance Officer to join a small, high-trust team and help us keep everything running smoothly, accurately, and under control as we scale.

 

The opportunity

This role exists because we’re growing. What used to be handled by one person is now becoming a proper function.

You’ll join a lean and collaborative finance setup, working closely with our CFO, Financial Controller, Finance Officer, and intern. As we continue to grow, we’re adding a second Finance Officer to split responsibilities and create more structure across the team.

You’ll take ownership of core finance processes. From invoicing to reconciliations, while helping us build a more scalable and robust finance function.

This isn’t just execution. There’s real room here to improve processes, bring ideas, and grow with the team.

 

What you’ll do

• Take ownership of customer invoicing ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and alignment with contracts
• Manage accounts payable, including booking invoices and tracking costs
• Perform bank reconciliations and allocations across corporates and banking clients
• Support balance sheet reconciliations and maintain clean, accurate records
• Assist with month-end and year-end closing processes
• Prepare documentation and support external audits
• Monitor payments, follow up on outstanding invoices, and resolve discrepancies
• Help manage the finance mailbox and day-to-day finance operations
• Contribute to process improvements as we scale (this is a team where your input matters)
  
  

What we’re looking for

You’re someone who likes having things in order. You take ownership, follow through, and don’t let things slip. You’re reliable, detail-focused, and calm in a busy environment.

 

Must-haves

• 3 years of experience in a finance role (e.g. Finance Officer, Accountant, Financial Assistant, Junior Controller)
• Experience with ledger accounting or financial control fundamentals
• Strong skills in Excel or Google Sheets
• Experience with reconciliations (bank, balance sheet, or similar)
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced, scale-up environment
• Fluent in English

Nice to have

• Experience with Exact or similar accounting systems
• Exposure to audit processes (internal or external)
• A degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or similar
