Software Engineer II - Direct Issuance (Backend/Fullstack)

Join StubHub’s Content Right Holder Tooling team as a Software Engineer II, where you’ll help build a platform that revolutionizes how inventory enters our marketplace. This tooling enables content right holders to directly and effortlessly distribute inventory to StubHub, removing friction and enabling faster, more scalable distribution across our ecosystem.

In this role, you’ll work primarily on backend and full-stack systems that power these experiences, including both traditional backend services and agentic, AI-enabled services. You’ll collaborate with other software engineers across the team to turn product ideas into reliable, production-ready systems.

Location: Hybrid (3 days in office/2 days remote) – Aliso Viejo, CA or Santa Monica, CA
 
What You'll Do:

  • Build Backend and Agentic Services - Implement and evolve backend services and agentic systems that support content right holder workflows, automation, and intelligent decision-making.
  • Translate Product Requirements into End-to-End Functionality - Convert product concepts into working systems, collaborating across frontend and backend boundaries to deliver cohesive features.
  • Enable AI-Powered Workflows - Integrate AI-driven capabilities—such as automated validation, diagnostics, recommendations, or guided workflows—through backend services and supporting APIs.
  • Work with Distributed and Data-Driven Systems - Contribute to services that handle data ingestion, synchronization, and processing at scale, with a focus on correctness and resilience.
  • Ensure Reliability and Operability - Build systems that are observable, debuggable, and resilient, and help improve how the platform behaves in real-world conditions.
  • Continuously Improve the Platform - Iterate on existing services to improve performance, maintainability, and scalability as product needs evolve.

What We're Looking For:

  • Professional Software Engineer - Typically 2–5 years of experience building production software, with a strong emphasis on frontend or full-stack development
  • Backend Engineering Proficiency - Experience with at least one backend programming language (e.g., Java, Python, Go, or similar) and building or consuming APIs.
  • Exposure to AI or Agentic Systems - Familiarity with integrating AI-powered services, automation, or agent-like workflows, or strong interest in learning and applying these patterns.
  • Systems and Data Mindset - Understanding of how data flows through services and how design decisions affect performance, reliability, and user experience.
  • Collaborative and Feedback-Oriented - Comfortable working across a team, incorporating feedback, and iterating toward better technical and product outcomes.

The anticipated gross base pay range is below for this role. Actual compensation will vary depending on factors such as a candidate’s qualifications, skills, experience, and competencies. Base annual salary is one component of StubHub’s total compensation and competitive benefits package, which includes equity, 401(k), paid time off, paid parental leave, and comprehensive health benefits. 

Salary Range

$180,000 - $200,000 USD
