Whether someone is looking to attend their first event or their hundredth, we’re here to delight them all the way from the moment they start looking for a ticket until they step through the gate. The same goes for our sellers. From fans selling a single ticket to the promoters of a worldwide stadium tour, we want StubHub to be the safest, most convenient way to offer a ticket to the millions of fans who browse our platform around the world.

We are seeking an experienced Senior Data Platform Engineer to join StubHub’s Data Engineering & Analytics team as a high-impact individual contributor focused on building and scaling our data infrastructure. In this role you will be responsible for architecting and maintaining the foundational systems that power data-driven decisions across pricing optimization, fraud detection, customer analytics, and business intelligence. This includes designing scalable data architectures, implementing cost optimization strategies, and building self-service platforms that enable developers to deliver insights faster while maintaining enterprise-grade reliability.

As a Senior Data Platform Engineer, you will lead the development of core data infrastructure and frameworks that enable efficient, scalable access to high-quality data assets across the company. You will play a strong role in defining technical standards and best practices around data platform architecture. We are looking for the right person that is passionate about the intersection of data engineering and platform engineering, and that can bring principles from software development fundamentals to create a data ecosystem that is performant, reliable, maintainable, and extensible to the growing needs of the company over time.

Strategic Need:

Our data platform team is growing both in size and scope to meet StubHub’s expanding data infrastructure needs. We’re looking for a senior-level platform engineer to join our team and help drive forward-looking architecture and optimization initiatives. This role will bring specialized expertise in Snowflake optimization, Airflow best practices, streaming infrastructure, and Infrastructure-as-Code to support our long-term technical vision and platform evolution.

Location: Hybrid (3 days in office/2 days remote) – New York, NY or Santa Monica, CA

What You'll Do:

  • Design and implement scalable data architecture that supports exponential data volume growth without proportional infrastructure cost increases
  • Build and maintain enterprise-grade infrastructure using Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform) for consistent, reproducible deployments across environments
  • Optimize Snowflake warehouse performance and implement cost management strategies to reduce compute costs while improving query performance
  • Architect streaming data solutions using Kafka or similar technologies for real-time data processing capabilities
  • Establish comprehensive monitoring and alerting with proactive incident response and disaster recovery procedures for business-critical systems
  • Build self-service tooling and developer portals that reduce operational overhead and enable faster feature delivery
  • Standardize dbt project templates and CI/CD workflows to accelerate development cycles and improve code quality
  • Lead complex technical initiatives spanning multiple teams and quarters, driving architectural decisions across the organization
  • Mentor junior engineers and establish technical best practices that become standards across StubHub’s data ecosystem

What You've Done:

  • 5+ years of relevant data platform engineering or infrastructure development experience in a fast-paced, high growth environment
  • 3+ years of hands-on experience with modern data stack technologies including Snowflake, Airflow, dbt, and Infrastructure-as-Code tools
  • Strong programming and analytical ability with expertise in Python, SQL, and infrastructure automation
  • Proven track record of building and maintaining large-scale data platforms processing millions of records daily with enterprise-level reliability
  • Experience with cloud-based data platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure) including cost optimization and performance tuning
  • Experience building self-service tools and automation that measurably improved developer productivity and reduced operational overhead
  • Technical leadership experience driving architectural decisions and leading cross-functional initiatives
  • Experience with streaming technologies such as Kafka, Kinesis, or Pub/Sub for real-time data processing architectures

Nice to Have:

  • Experience with real-time analytics and low-latency data processing systems
  • Knowledge of data governance, compliance, and security frameworks
  • Background in e-commerce, marketplace, or fintech environments with high-volume transaction processing
  • Experience with machine learning infrastructure and MLOps practices

What We Offer:

  • Accelerated Growth Environment: Immerse yourself in an environment designed for swift skill and knowledge enhancement, where you have the autonomy to lead experiments and tests on a massive scale.
  • Top Tier Compensation Package: Enjoy a rewarding compensation package that includes enticing stock incentives, aligning with our commitment to recognizing and valuing your contributions.

OMB Control Number 1250-0005
Expires 04/30/2026

Why are you being asked to complete this form?

We are a federal contractor or subcontractor. The law requires us to provide equal employment opportunity to qualified people with disabilities. We have a goal of having at least 7% of our workers as people with disabilities. The law says we must measure our progress towards this goal. To do this, we must ask applicants and employees if they have a disability or have ever had one. People can become disabled, so we need to ask this question at least every five years.

Completing this form is voluntary, and we hope that you will choose to do so. Your answer is confidential. No one who makes hiring decisions will see it. Your decision to complete the form and your answer will not harm you in any way. If you want to learn more about the law or this form, visit the U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) website at www.dol.gov/ofccp.
