VP - External Reporting & Accounting Policy

StubHub is seeking a proactive self-starter who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment to help scale the accounting policy function at our high growth company. The Vice President of External Reporting & Accounting Policy will work to document accounting policies and transactions and work cross-functionally with the business. The Vice President of External Reporting & Accounting Policy is a key member of the Finance leadership team responsible for overseeing all aspects of the Company's external financial reporting and accounting policy. This role will be instrumental in ensuring the accuracy, timeliness, and compliance of all SEC filings and other external financial communications.
Location: Hybrid (3 days in office/2 days remote) – New York, NY
What You'll Do:
- SEC Reporting:
- Lead the preparation and review of all SEC filings, including 10-K, 10-Q, 8-K, and proxy statements.
- Significant involvement in the earnings cycle processes, including preparation, tie out, and review for accuracy of earnings materials (i.e., script, press releases, supplementals, etc.).
- Research and interpret SEC regulations and accounting pronouncements.
- Advise management on accounting and disclosure matters related to SEC filings.
- Oversee the quarterly review and annual audit process with external auditors.
- Manage completeness and accuracy of XBRL for applicable SEC filings.
- Accounting Policy:
- Develop and maintain the Company's accounting policies and procedures.
- Research and analyze new accounting pronouncements and assess the impact on the Company's financial statements.
- Document accounting positions and prepare technical memos to support accounting conclusions.
- Advise management on the accounting treatment of complex transactions.
- Coordinate with other departments, such as controllership, legal and tax on accounting matters.
- Team Leadership:
- Lead and mentor a team of accounting professionals.
- Recruit, train and develop talent.
- Foster a positive and collaborative work environment.
What You've Done:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting
- CPA required
- Mix of 15+ years of relevant experience in public accounting, “Big 4” preferred, and corporate accounting, with a strong focus on SEC reporting.
- Extensive experience with SEC reporting requirements, including Forms 10-K, 10-Q, 8-K, and proxy statements.
- In-depth knowledge of GAAP.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Experience in marketplace or technology industry is preferred.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with a Big 4 public accounting firm.
- Executive presence with excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively communicate complex financial information to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Experience with SOX compliance.
- Experience with Workiva and NetSuite is a plus.
- Skilled in influencing and partnering with diverse stakeholders, including technical and business-minded leaders.

The anticipated gross base pay range is below for this role. Actual compensation will vary depending on factors such as a candidate’s qualifications, skills, experience, and competencies. Base annual salary is one component of StubHub’s total compensation and competitive benefits package, which includes equity, 401(k), paid time off, paid parental leave, and comprehensive health benefits.
Salary Range
$250,000 - $325,000 USD
