Commercial Legal Counsel (3-Month Contract)

About the Role

We are looking for an experienced Commercial Legal Counsel to join us on a 3-month fixed-term contract, with the possibility of extension depending on business needs.

In this role, you will work closely with our Commercial, Product, Compliance, Regulatory, Finance, and Operations teams to structure, review, and negotiate complex and bespoke commercial and partnership agreements. You will play a key role in supporting transactions across the payments, fintech, and Web3 ecosystem, balancing commercial objectives with legal, regulatory, and compliance considerations.

This role is well suited for an experienced commercial lawyer who can operate independently, manage transactions end-to-end, and provide practical legal advice in a fast-moving environment.

What You Will Do

  • Lead the drafting, structuring, reviewing, negotiation, and execution of complex commercial and partnership agreements, particularly within the payments, fintech, and Web3 ecosystem.
  • Handle agreements with a range of counterparties, including banks, payment service providers, exchanges, wallets, custodians, fintech companies, and other digital asset/Web3 partners.
  • Take end-to-end ownership of commercial transactions and contract negotiations with minimal supervision.
  • Partner closely with Commercial, Product, Compliance, Regulatory, Finance, and Operations teams to understand business requirements, identify potential risks, and ensure relevant legal and compliance considerations are appropriately reflected in agreements.
  • Provide timely and practical advice to internal stakeholders regarding contractual obligations, commitments, and commercial legal matters.
  • Advise management and business stakeholders on complex client and partnership matters, including potential contractual, regulatory, compliance, financial, and legal risks.
  • Communicate complex legal considerations clearly and concisely, adapting your approach to different stakeholders and audiences.
  • Support the development and improvement of contracting processes, templates, playbooks, and procedures to increase operational efficiency.

What We Are Looking For

  • Qualified lawyer in a common law jurisdiction with at least 5 years of relevant legal experience, with strong experience in commercial contracts gained in-house and/or at a reputable law firm.
  • Strong commercial contracting experience, including independently drafting, reviewing, structuring, and negotiating complex agreements.
  • Strong business acumen with the ability to combine legal analysis with practical commercial judgment.
  • Ability to independently manage multiple transactions and priorities in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision.
  • Highly collaborative and solutions-oriented, with strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
  • Ability to translate complex legal concepts and risks into clear, practical, and commercially relevant advice.
  • Strong time management skills and the ability to deliver quality work under tight deadlines.
  • Available to start as soon as possible and commit to a minimum 3-month contract.

Accordingly, if you are located outside of the United States, your personal data will be transferred to the United States once you submit it through this site. The Controller will ensure that such transfers are subject to arrangements that provide a standard of protection comparable to that under the PDPA.

In accordance with Section 25 of the PDPA, the Controller will cease to retain documents containing your personal data, or remove the means by which the data can be associated with you, as soon as it is no longer required for (a) the purposes for which it was collected, or (b) for legal or business purposes, including considering you for future opportunities. Under the PDPA, you have the right to request access to your personal data, to request that your personal data be rectified, and to withdraw your consent to the processing of your personal data. To exercise these rights or to withdraw your consent, you may contact the Controller’s data protection officer using the details above.
