Technical Software Project Manager

Salary: £55,000 to £72,000 DOE  

 The salary range for this role is broad, as we are able to consider varying levels of experience. Any offer made will carefully take into account level of experience (including relevant industry experience), transferable relevant skills and previous relevant achievements.

About the role

This is a fantastic opportunity for a Technical Software Project Manager to join Riverlane’s Project Management Office and lead the delivery of our world-class software engineering products (covering Deltakit, Compiler and Tools). Working in an agile environment, you will use tools such as Jira and Confluence to support structured planning and effective collaboration. Ideal opportunity for a Technical Software Project Manager who enjoys working in deep tech environments and is comfortable balancing structure with flexibility. 

No prior experience in quantum computing is required. You will develop domain knowledge on the job, supported by the wider team.  

What you will do 

  • Lead and coordinate software teams to deliver technical projects end to end, across both product development and partnerspecific initiatives. 
  • Work with science, engineering, and product leads to define scope, milestones, dependencies, and success criteria 
  • Build and maintain delivery plans that reflect both technical uncertainty and business priorities 
  • Identify, manage, and communicate risks, assumptions, and trade-offs clearly and proactively 
  • Track progress, report on delivery health, and support decision-making at project and portfolio level 
  • Facilitate effective crossteam collaboration and proactively remove delivery blockers, taking on operational tasks as needed to support a scaling organisation 
  • Support continuous improvement of Riverlane’s project management practices and tools 

 

What we need 

  • Experience delivering technical software engineering projects 
  • Solid foundation in project management fundamentals (e.g. PMP), enabling effective planning, risk management and stakeholder communication. 
  • A background in science, engineering, computer science, or a closely related technical discipline 
  • Build and maintain strong, collaborative relationships with internal teams and external partners to ensure alignment and successful delivery 
  • Experience working in environments with uncertainty or research-driven timelines 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills 

 

Even better if you have…

  • Experience programming ideally in C++ and/or Python.  
  • Experience in SW development such as DevOps, git, testing frameworks, CI etc.  
  • Experience working in deep tech
