Position Description
Head of Product Design
Permanent Full Time
Location: Singapore
Reporting to the Chief Product Officer, the Head of Product Design will develop and communicate the design vision and roadmap, aligning design goals with business objectives, ensuring the design vision supports the company's overall strategy.
You will play an important role as a People Leader, driving high employee engagement and coaching and mentoring your team members. You will lead the design team to collaborate with a wider multi-cultural, multi-disciplined organization in a fast-paced, dynamic, agile environment, working closely with Product Managers and Engineers to take products from concept to the delivery of a commercial outcomes.
MAJOR REPONSIBILITIES
STRATEGIC DESIGN
- Develop Long-term Design Strategy: In addition to managing day-to-day design deliverables, ensure that the design function aligns with the company’s long-term vision, product roadmaps, and evolving user needs.
- Lead Design Innovation: Act as a key driver for design innovation, encouraging the team to push boundaries while ensuring that new design initiatives are both forward-thinking and grounded in user needs.
- Design ROI (Return on Investment): Advocate for design's value in business terms, working with leadership to track and communicate the impact of design decisions on business outcomes such as revenue growth, customer satisfaction, and user adoption.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Engage with senior stakeholders to communicate design strategy, findings, and results in a clear, business-friendly manner. Ensure that design initiatives are aligned with strategic priorities.
USER-CENTERED DESIGN & RESEARCH
- Ensure Deep User Understanding: Emphasize the importance of ongoing user research and testing. Lead efforts to ensure that design decisions are based on data, user feedback, and usability testing.
- Champion Accessibility and Inclusivity: Ensure that designs meet accessibility standards and promote inclusive design practices to reach diverse user groups.
- User Journey Mapping & Service Design: Lead the team in mapping user journeys, defining pain points, and finding opportunities for improving the entire user experience, not just the interface.
OPERATIONS & DESIGN PROCESS
- Streamline Design Processes: Define and enforce design workflows that support rapid iteration, scalability, and efficient collaboration with cross-functional teams.
- Design Systems Leadership: Lead the maintenance of the design system that streamlines design consistency across platforms, ensuring that design language, components, and guidelines are reused and evolve with user and business needs.
- Champion Design Reviews and Critiques: Organize regular design reviews and critiques, helping the team refine work and ensure quality while maintaining a constructive and collaborative environment.
- Foster Cross-Disciplinary Collaboration: Encourage collaboration not only between design, product, and engineering teams, but also between customer support, operations, and other stakeholders to integrate diverse perspectives into the design process.
MEASURING SUCCESS & IMPACT
- User Metrics: Work with Product Ops to define and track UX metrics such as task success rate, user engagement, or customer satisfaction to validate the effectiveness of design decisions.
- Design Quality Assurance: Implement a quality assurance framework for design deliverables, ensuring consistency, usability, and alignment with business objectives.
- Design Maturity: Regularly assess the design maturity of the organization, identifying gaps and areas for improvement in design processes, tools, and team skill sets.
QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS & ATTRIBUTES
- Minimum of 8 years working full-time in product design or a similar role
- Minimum of 3 years' experience managing and leading other designers
- Expertise in product development and design process
- Knowledge of Agile development principles.
- Strong communication, analytical and interpersonal skills working within cross-functional teams
- A degree in Design, Human-Computer Interaction, or a related field is preferred
