Contractor Product Manager, AI Platform
About Phoenix
Phoenix Technologies delivers sovereign cloud and AI infrastructure, managed as a service or fully on‑prem, built on open-source platforms. We provide secure compute, storage, and networking; GPU clusters with AI model serving; and HSM‑backed key management, strengthened with confidential computing and attested enclaves for privacy, protection, and compliance.
Contractor Product Manager, AI Platform
We are looking for a temporary contractor Product Manager to provide 6-month maternity leave cover for our full-time AI Product Manager. This role will help maintain momentum across the AI platform roadmap, support delivery of in-flight initiatives, and partner closely with leadership, engineering, and go-to-market teams to ensure continuity during the coverage period.
This is a hands-on, execution-oriented role. The ideal candidate is comfortable stepping into an existing product area, quickly understanding priorities and context, and helping teams make progress without needing to reshape the long-term product strategy.
What you’ll do
- Manage and maintain the existing roadmap and backlog for assigned AI platform capabilities, features, and customer segments
- Translate customer needs, business priorities, and stakeholder input into clear product requirements, user stories, and acceptance criteria
- Support prioritization and scoping decisions in partnership with leadership, engineering, and go-to-market teams
- Help connect user needs to technical building blocks, solution options, and implementation paths
- Define and run proofs of concept on an open-source stack to validate ideas quickly
- Build lightweight prototypes using AI coding tools to test concepts, support demos, and accelerate decision-making
- Partner with engineering to keep delivery moving, clarify requirements, remove ambiguity, and support release readiness
- Flag risks, dependencies, and trade-offs early so the team can make informed decisions
- Support go-to-market execution, including positioning, pricing input, launch planning, and internal enablement
- Track product performance, adoption, customer feedback, and business outcomes after launch
- Ensure clear documentation, handoffs, and continuity for the returning full-time Product Manager
What you bring
- Proven product management experience supporting delivery of AI, platform, or technical products
- Ability to ramp quickly into an existing product area and operate effectively within an established roadmap
- Strong ability to translate customer problems and business priorities into clear requirements and delivery plans
- Strong solution-mapping skills, with the ability to connect user needs to technical architecture and implementation options
- Clear communication skills with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Comfort working across leadership, engineering, and go-to-market teams
- Strong judgment around prioritization, trade-offs, and when to escalate decisions
- Self-directed working style with the ability to deliver quickly in a time-bound contractor engagement
Nice to have
- Experience with LLMs or AI-native product development
- Experience working with open-source tools, components, or infrastructure
- Hands-on experience with AI coding assistants or rapid prototyping workflows
- Experience stepping into interim, backfill, or maternity leave cover roles
