Junior Compliance Officer
Company Mission
Payhawk is one AI-powered spend management platform for scaling businesses — corporate cards, expense management, procurement, and accounts payable, unified in one place. We serve finance teams across 32+ countries, cutting month-end close time and reconciling 99.7% of transactions with zero manual touch. AI runs through the platform as core infrastructure, not a bolted-on feature — and we hire the top 1% of talent in every function to keep building it that way.
Why Payhawk
Payhawk, where the bold builders make an impact.
We're not a family, we're a high-performance team — and that's deliberate. We debate, ideate, and push each other to be better, because the best ideas come from direct feedback. We've already made history as Bulgaria's first unicorn, but the ambition doesn't stop there: if you want to grow fast - own it; do not wait for it.
Give: Honest opinions, real ownership, a focus on outcomes.
Get: A front-row seat to a market leader in one of the fastest-moving industries.
The role, in one line
You will be the main point of contact and the person on the ground for compliance in our US business. You will keep the programme running across BSA/AML, consumer protection, and marketing compliance, so that our product and commercial teams can keep growing in the US.
What you will own
- Act as the main point of contact for a wide range of tasks in a lean team, covering BSA/AML, marketing compliance, consumer protection, IT due diligence requests and new product launches.
- Support oversight of the US compliance programme and meet the compliance expectations of our US partner bank by working across teams to provide regular reporting.
- Review and approve escalated cases as part of day-to-day compliance operations.
- Draft, review, and renew compliance policies and procedures.
- Run marketing compliance reviews with the Marketing team.
- Work with Customer Success to collect the customer information compliance needs.
- Work with Product teams to streamline customer onboarding.
- Advise on which US regulations apply to Payhawk, and push back where a requirement does not apply.
- Support our UK and Lithuanian entities where needed with project support and global initiatives.
What you will need
- 2+ years of hands-on compliance experience at a bank, fintech or other financial institution, including real work on policies and procedures.
- Exposure to BSA/AML, consumer protection and marketing compliance requirements.
- A working knowledge of the US regulatory landscape, so you can tell when something is wrong or missing.
- The ability to read a policy or document and judge whether it makes sense and is correct.
- Experience running projects and handling many different topics at once.
- Comfort with shifting priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- The ability to learn quickly and get up to speed on your own once you are pointed in the right direction.
- Interest in learning about other jurisdictions and working in an international market.
- A broad, generalist approach to compliance. This role suits you better than one focused only on AML.
