Role Overview
The Data Center Security Manager is responsible for the overall physical security posture of
Nscale’s data center facilities. This role leads site security operations, develops and enforces
security policies, manages third-party security vendors, and ensures compliance with applicable
industry standards and customer requirements.
The ideal candidate brings strong operational leadership, deep knowledge of physical security
systems, and experience managing security in mission-critical environments such as hyperscale,
colocation, or enterprise data centers.
Key Responsibilities
Security Operations & Risk Management
● Lead day-to-day physical security operations across assigned Nscale data center facilities
● Develop, implement, and maintain site security policies, procedures, and post orders
● Conduct risk assessments and implement mitigation strategies
● Oversee access control systems, CCTV, intrusion detection, and perimeter protection
systems
● Monitor and analyze security metrics, trends, and incident reports
Incident Response & Investigations
● Lead response to security incidents, breaches, or emergencies
● Conduct investigations and prepare detailed incident reports
● Coordinate with local law enforcement and emergency services when required
● Implement corrective actions and continuous improvement measures
Vendor & Team Management
● Manage contracted security guard vendors and performance SLAs
● Oversee hiring, onboarding, training, and scheduling of security personnel
● Conduct regular performance reviews and audits of security operations
● Ensure adequate staffing levels to support 24/7 operations
Compliance & Audit
● Ensure compliance with customer security requirements and regulatory frameworks (e.g.,
ISO 27001, SOC 2, PCI-DSS where applicable)
● Support customer audits and site visits
● Maintain security documentation and evidence for audits
● Participate in business continuity and disaster recovery planning
Cross-Functional Collaboration
● Partner with Data Center Operations, IT, Facilities, and Compliance teams
● Support secure build-outs and expansions of Nscale facilities
● Provide security guidance during design and construction phases
● Support executive reporting and strategic security planning
Qualifications
Required
● 5+ years of experience in data center or mission-critical physical security
● 3+ years in a security leadership or management role
● Strong knowledge of access control, CCTV, badge systems, and physical security
technologies
● Experience managing third-party security vendors
● Familiarity with industry compliance frameworks (ISO, SOC, PCI, etc.)
● Excellent written and verbal communication skills
● Ability to work in a 24/7 operational environment
Preferred
● Experience in hyperscale, colocation, or AI-focused data center environments
● CPP, PSP, or equivalent security certification
● Background in military, law enforcement, or critical infrastructure security
● Experience supporting customer audits and regulated environments

The range below reflects the base salary for the position. Actual compensation may vary based on job-related factors such as skill set, experience, education, and location. In addition to base salary, this role may be eligible for bonus, equity, and/or commission programs. Nscale may offer a competitive benefits package including medical, dental, vision, flexible paid time off, parental leave, and retirement plan participation.
Salary Range
$100,000 - $135,000 USD
