Position Summary
As a Regional Manager – Substation, you will provide leadership and strategic oversight for substation construction operations within an assigned region. This role is responsible for managing long-term, complex programs and strategic projects from pursuit and preconstruction through execution and closeout.
You will ensure the successful delivery of projects by securing the required resources and applying formal processes and tools to manage budgets, schedules, risk, change, safety, and quality. The Regional Manager is accountable for regional performance, project profitability, client satisfaction, and alignment with Michels Power’s safety-first culture and operational standards.
This position requires a proven leader who is reliable, self-motivated, goal-oriented, organized, and professional, with the ability to influence teams and clients across a geographically dispersed region.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide regional leadership for substation EPC and construction projects, including greenfield, brownfield, BESS, renewable, and industrial facilities
- Oversee multiple concurrent projects and programs, ensuring adherence to safety, quality, schedule, and financial goals
- Lead regional pursuit, estimating, and preconstruction efforts in collaboration with estimating, engineering, and operations teams
- Develop and execute regional business strategies aligned with company growth objectives
- Manage regional budgets, forecasts, cash flow, and margin performance
- Identify and mitigate project and program risks; oversee change management strategies
- Build and maintain strong client, utility, and stakeholder relationships
- Mentor and develop Project Managers, Superintendents, and regional leadership staff
- Ensure compliance with company policies, contractual requirements, and regulatory standards
- Promote and model Michels Power’s safety culture across all regional operations

What it takes?
- 7-10 years of progressive experience in substation construction, EPC delivery, or power infrastructure operations
- Experience with Microsoft Office Suite; familiarity with job cost tracking and estimating software is a plus.

Proven experience managing large, multi-project regional portfolios

Strong understanding of substation construction means, methods, sequencing, and risk

Demonstrated financial acumen with experience managing project profitability

Excellent leadership, communication, and client-facing skills

Willingness to travel as required within the region
- A valid driver’s license and an acceptable driving record.
