  Central Trading Internship

 

  This 12-week internship offers the opportunity to work directly on the trading desk and gain first-hand exposure to the role of execution within the investment process.

  The intern will work across a broad range of asset classes and trading styles. This will include exposure to discretionary trading and systematic trading across equities, credit, futures and other macro instruments.

 

  Sitting at the intersection of high-touch and quant trading, the intern will help bridge the two approaches by contributing to the development and improvement of AI trading capabilities. They will work on projects exploring how artificial intelligence can improve trading decisions, execution processes and the desk’s overall trading capabilities.

 

  The role will provide significant exposure to trading, market microstructure and Man Group’s investment engines, including Man AHL and Man Numeric within Man Systematic, as well as Man Discretionary.

 

 Responsibilities

 

  - Work alongside traders and quant traders on the Central Trading desk.

  - Help develop and improve AI and quant-trading tools and workflows.

  - Analyse market and proprietary trading data to identify execution improvements.

  - Build an understanding of market microstructure across asset classes.

  - Collaborate with Man Group’s systematic and discretionary investment teams.

  - Communicate research findings and recommendations clearly.

 

  Who Are We Looking For?

 

  We are looking for candidates with a strong mathematical and analytical background who are comfortable operating in a fast-paced environment. Successful candidates will be intellectually curious, able to learn and iterate quickly, and confident communicating with a wide range of stakeholders.

 

  Candidates should be on track to achieve at least a 2:1 degree in a STEM-based or similarly quantitative subject.

 

  Key Skills and Experience

 

  - Strong background in mathematics, statistics and machine learning.

  - Experience coding in Python.

  - Ability to work and iterate effectively in a fast-paced environment.

  - Strong interpersonal skills and confidence working with multiple countparrties

- Interest in financial markets, quant trading and market microstructure.

  - Interest in artificial intelligence, including experience with or an interest in LLM-based workflows.

  - Entrepreneurial team player, able to challenge and discuss ideas constructively and contribute to the wider Central Trading team.

 

Please note that we are looking for penultimate year university students for this programme, and successful performance on the Internship Programme does not guarantee a confirmed place on a Graduate Programme.
