Investment Risk Manager
We are looking to hire a Risk Manager to the Investment Risk team in New York, covering discretionary strategies at Man Group. We would welcome candidates from within Market Risk or professionals with keen interest in Investment Risk.
The Team
The Investment Risk team is a part of the wider Man Group Risk function and is responsible for risk management, monitoring and risk-related research across the full range of funds, working closely with Portfolio Managers, Investment teams, Technology and the wider group. Our mission is to be an independent team of Risk Managers and to be an influential team of consultants advising the Investment team, recognised for proactivity, professionalism, the advanced use of technology and provide a competitive advantage.
Specific responsibilities
- Ensure risk is well monitored and supervised across funds, and develop expertise in our risk management processes and infrastructure
- Working closely with PMs and investment teams to ensure awareness of the current risk profile and identify tools required
- Understanding, explanation and escalation of risk and performance drivers of strategies across the group
- Escalation of relevant information to Senior Management in timely fashion, communicated clearly and concisely, to ensure transparency of key risks across strategies
- Conduct research into new risk measurement / risk management techniques, working closely with various teams (PM, Quant, Technology) on identification, project management and deployment of new tools
- Further develop the Man risk management process and broaden awareness and good risk management practices across all functions
- Closely follow market events, and pro-actively share forward thinking risk analysis with the team, senior management and PMs
- Assisting with regulatory, client and marketing requests and other duties as may be required by broader Man Group from time to time
Skills & previous experience
- Very strong academics, preferably in STEM.
- Knowledge and interest in major asset classes and portfolio risk management techniques.
- Strong analytical and quantitative skills
- Python or similar programming skills
- Experience communicating with management and investment teams
- Project management skills including time-management, liaising and working with various stakeholders
Base Salary Range: The anticipated based salary range for this position is $170,000-$190,000 + benefits + a discretionary bonus. This is the base salary range that the Company believes it will pay for this position at the time of this posting based on the location and requirements of the position as well as the skills, qualifications, and experience of the applicant. The Firm reserves the right to modify this pay range at any time.
