Head of Crisis Communications

PR and Communications is a highly strategic and visible function at JetBrains. Our team plays a key role in elevating the brand, shaping public perception, and driving awareness across global audiences.
As we continue to grow, we are seeking a strategic and experienced communications leader to head our crisis communications efforts globally. In this high-impact role, you will partner closely with senior executives, legal, compliance, and regional teams to anticipate, manage, and respond to incidents that may impact our brand and reputation. The ideal candidate brings strategic insight, operational agility, and a clear, confident communication style. They are comfortable navigating ambiguity and thrive in dynamic environments where preparation, speed, and judgment are critical.
This role reports to the VP of PR and Communications and can be based in any European country where JetBrains has a legal presence.
In this role, you will:
- Develop and implement robust crisis communication strategies, including response frameworks, messaging playbooks, and FAQs.
- Act as the operational lead during real-time crisis situations, coordinating closely with leadership and cross-functional teams.
- Work closely with internal communications, legal, and compliance teams to ensure coordinated messaging and clear stakeholder alignment.
- Monitor the global media and geopolitical and policy landscape to identify emerging risks and advise on proactive mitigation strategies.
- Coordinate crisis responses across regions and time zones
- Establish and manage rapid-response protocols to help identify and handle crises and reputational risks.
- Perform post-incident analysis and reporting to capture lessons learned and improve future readiness.
- Define and monitor KPIs to evaluate the effectiveness of response and preparedness programs.
We’d be happy to have you on our team if you have:
- 10+ years of experience in corporate communications, with significant focus on crisis and reputation management.
- A degree in communications, journalism, public relations, or a related field.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills; native-level proficiency in English.
- Proven ability to lead communications during complex, high-stakes situations.
- Experience working cross-functionally with senior stakeholders, including legal, compliance, and executive leadership.
- Strong analytical and decision-making skills, with a calm and confident approach under pressure.
- Solid understanding of global tech, geopolitical, and regulatory trends impacting businesses
