Working Student – AGNC Avionics Harness & Structures Engineer (m/f/d)
Mission Brief
This role supports the development and documentation of electrical harnesses for an orbital launch vehicle. Tasks include database maintenance, basic harness design, and interpretation of schematics and system-level diagrams. The position offers hands-on experience in harness engineering within a multidisciplinary aerospace environment.
Your Role in Our Space Mission:
- Process and maintain the sensor database and update department documentation
- Keep the electrical component database current and create new entries as needed
- Design simple harnesses such as umbilicals, jumpers, test harnesses, and vehicle harnesses
- Interpret and create electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and circuit layouts
- Read and understand system-level diagrams to support harness integration
- Assist in aligning harness designs with avionics, sensors, actuators, and fluid systems
- Support documentation for harness manufacturing and integration
- Collaborate with engineers across departments to ensure data consistency and design alignment
Qualification Checklist
- Enrolled in a BSc/MSc program in Electrical, Mechanical, Aerospace Engineering, or related field
- Experience or coursework in electrical design and documentation
- Familiarity with electrical harness design with CAD tools (e.g., SolidWorks Electrical or similar)
- Ability to interpret electrical schematics and system-level diagrams
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Proactive mindset and willingness to learn in a fast-paced environment
- Good communication skills and ability to work in a team
- Fluent in English, both written and spoken
Bonus Skills
- Experience with mechanical design in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks / CATIA / NX)
- Familiarity with aerospace or automotive electrical systems
