Legal and Compliance Lawyer

Due to our growth ambitions, we are looking for a talented Legal and Compliance Lawyer in Latvia.

What will you be doing?

• Providing day-to-day legal support across multiple verticals to internal stakeholders such as country manager, product and business development, marketing, operational and local sales teams to support the growth of the company
• Supporting the expansion of business lines and products. Be responsible for developing legal strategies to ensure the achievement of the business goals, yet mitigating reasonably the risks involved
• Drafting, reviewing and negotiating various agreements with partners, customers and other third parties to ensure compliance with local laws and regulations
• Coordinating advice and contributing to group projects with cross-functional stakeholders, including team members with group function
• Liaising with external counsels, to ensure achieving the business goals in compliance with local laws and regulations
• Staying up to date with legislative developments, anticipating legal and commercial risks and advising and assisting the business to prepare for them
• Managing communication with Latvian supervisory authorities and supporting in the corporate governance area
• Providing legally sound yet practical advice on responsible lending, AML and data protection challenges.

Ideally, you have the following:

• At least 3 years of work experience as a sole lawyer in an in-house legal department of an international company in the fintech or financial services industry, or law firm or as a member of a legal team feeling ready to work as a sole in-house lawyer
• Legal qualification from a reputable law school, LLM
• Exceptional knowledge of financial law, banking law, consumer law and AML, GDPR
• You feel comfortable to take initiative in a fast-paced and changeable environment
• Analytical and solution-driven entrepreneurial mindset, love to face legal challenges
• Excellent project and time management skills
• Capability of taking a strong ownership, yet enjoying working as a team in an international environment
• Well organized, adaptive, tech-savvy and deliver your work on time
• Fluent in English and Latvian and an excellent communicator both in writing and orally.
