Senior Systems Engineer

As a Senior Systems Engineer at IMC, you will play a key role in building, managing, and optimizing the Linux-based systems, AWS infrastructure, kubernetes cluster, automation pipelines, and monitoring solutions that power our trading operations. You will work closely with developers, traders, and other engineers to ensure our environments are secure, scalable, and tuned for the demands of high-performance trading.

You will manage and enhance systems across on-premises and cloud environments, integrate with trading platforms, and ensure that our network, storage, and compute layers are robust and efficient.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Manage and maintain Linux-based servers for trading, research, and operational workloads
  • Administer and optimize AWS instances, networking configurations, and storage systems
  • Automate provisioning, configuration, and deployment using Ansible and related tools
  • Monitor system health, application performance, and infrastructure reliability with tools such as Grafana, Prometheus, and EFK/Loki
  • Oversee and optimize storage systems, including CEPH clusters, ensuring performance, resilience, and scalability
  • Manage networking components, ensuring low-latency and high-throughput connectivity for trading systems
  • Manage the lifecycle of our Kubernetes clusters (deploy, upgrade, maintain, and decommission)
  • Work closely with developers and traders to integrate systems with trading applications and data pipelines
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex issues across hardware, OS, network, and application layers
  • Participate in capacity planning, disaster recovery design, and security hardening efforts
  • Develop automation scripts, monitoring utilities, and operational tooling in Python (and optionally C++)

Skills and Experience

Required:

  • Strong background in Linux systems engineering, administration, and troubleshooting
  • Hands-on expertise with Ansible for automation and configuration management
  • Strong Python development skills for operational tooling, monitoring, and automation
  • Solid understanding of networking concepts, routing, and low-latency optimization
  • Experience deploying, managing, and troubleshooting Kubernetes clusters in production environments
  • Experience managing large-scale storage systems (preferably CEPH)
  • Familiarity with system monitoring, logging, and alerting frameworks
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work under time-sensitive conditions

Big plus:

  • C++ development experience, particularly for systems integration and performance tuning
  • Experience in low-latency trading environments or financial markets infrastructure
  • AWS or other cloud provider experience, Terraform for Infrastructure as Code
