The Role / Position Overview

FT Live is hiring for a Commercial Portfolio Manager, Wealth & Financial Advice who will be responsible for leading the commercial growth of FT Live’s Wealth and Financial Advice event portfolio, in addition to FT Specialist’s awards portfolio. 

The successful candidate will be responsible for revenue delivery, team management and developing the commercial strategy for events in their portfolio.

Through individual and team sales management, the Commercial Portfolio Manager will rapidly increase conference sponsorship and client event revenues across the FT’s Wealth and Financial Advice brands. 

Working collaboratively with the content team, event delivery teams and other commercial businesses within FT group will be an important part of this role.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the commercial delivery of the Wealth and Financial Advice event portfolio, achieving and exceeding monthly, quarterly and annual revenue targets.
  • Responsible for all stages of the commercial cycle, including: opportunity identification, commercial consultation, proposal creations, contract negotiations, agreements and delivery. 
  • Accountable for all revenues under the Wealth and Financial Advice brands, plus FT Specialist’s awards portfolio.
  • Personal and team revenue generation with a strong focus on new business.
  • Manage both personal and team sales pipelines, while developing outstanding proposals to ensure high deal conversion rates.
  • Detailed market mapping to improve commercial opportunities across target sectors.
  • Create new business relationships and drive the growth of existing accounts.
  • Work closely with content, marketing and operations teams and other FT Specialist departments to achieve business and group objectives.
  • Collaboration with FT group commercial teams on event inclusion in multimedia partnerships.

Required Skills / Experience

  • Five years' proven expertise in B2B event sponsorship sales, including over two years of experience leading a commercial team 

  • Outstanding level of initiative, self-motivation and a proactive nature

  • Strong track record of growing event revenues YoY, while encouraging a culture of team success

  • Commercial and entrepreneurial attitude

  • Excellent presentation and communication skills

  • Knowledge of international industry sectors and ability to converse credibly with clients and colleagues on a range of national and international business topics

  • Strong negotiation skills and ability to conclude high value contracts

  • Proficient in CRM system management - Salesforce

  • Degree-level education
