Staff Software Engineer - Customer Growth (f/m/d)

The Customer Growth area is experiencing ambitious growth and transformation.  

We operate in over 45 countries and are responsible for over 200 million customer accounts, 30,000 created every day, 250,000 authentications, 2.5 billion emails, 45 million messages and over 80 million online visits.

We are moving from a collection of small local teams to a global organization. This will allow us to ensure the technological (Full APIs, Data/Event Driven Architecture, Microservices, Headless, etc.) and organizational transition (Agility at scale, Performance, and pivot from feature teams to product teams).

Customer Growth offers “seamless” authentication and identification of customers to the Decathlon ecosystem. We maintain and develop  360° customer profiles that are leveraged by our CRM systems to offer highly personalized marketing communications. Finally, through our membership program we further engage with our customers to create engaging experiences and increase loyalty.

We are recruiting a Staff Software Engineer for the Personalized CRM and Membership subdomains, based in Amsterdam.

YOUR ENVIRONMENT

Environment

  • Our teams are made up of women and men from diverse origins.
  • You will work closely with the product teams which are made up of Product Managers, Quality Engineers and Software Engineers.
  • You will form a community with other Staff Engineers from other technological sub-domains to build and lead the technological strategy and software development practices (enforcing and supporting Architecture Decision Records).
  • The Accelerate approach, Agile culture and practices as well as SRE are an integral part of the life of feature teams. This ensures that our services always correspond to the objectives set and that deliveries are made regularly in the most qualitative manner possible.
  • A Senior Engineering Manager will support you throughout your career.

  • Monitoring: Datadog, Splunk.
  • Operating model: Best-in-class organization based on empowered product teams.
  • Backend: Java (Spring Boot), PostgreSQL, Kafka, Redis.
  • Full cloud: GCP, AWS.
  • CI/CD: GitHub Actions, Rancher, Helm, Flux.
  • Containers: Kubernetes, GKE
  • Collaboration tools: Slack, Google Workspace, Confluence.
  • Marketing Platform: Salesforce

WHAT YOU WILL CONTRIBUTE TO

What you will be required to do:

  • You ensure the technical architecture of all products in the Personalized CRM and Membership subdomains by ensuring the scalability, resilience, security and scalability of our solutions.
  • You actively participate in framing and design workshops for programs involving several products, or even several digital domains
  • You are proactive within teams to help resolve complex issues.
  • A true technical referent, you guarantee the quality of the code within the teams thanks to good development practices (code review, pair programming, clean code, etc.)
  • You shine technically across the teams thanks to your expertise and are capable of making impactful technical decisions for the company and having them applied operationally.
  • You are constantly on technological watch and you are a force for proposals to deploy new technologies that make it possible to build the solutions of tomorrow.
  • You mentor software engineers in the field
  • You will continue to participate in product development but to a lesser extent

WHAT YOU BRING

  • You have at least seven years of experience in backend development (e-commerce, cloud applications or web-based applications fields SaaS applications).
  • You have experience in the CRM and Marketing Automation area.
  • You master software development best practices (architecture, design patterns, testable code) and have a strong technical background on backend solutions (microservices, event driven, serverless, etc.).
  • Significant experience in supporting and leading teams in Agile/devops methodologies
  • You have experience in growing the maturity of your team's best practices and are passionate about evangelizing learnings coming out of the staff engineering group.
  • You are capable of producing services that respond to high traffic 
  • You enjoy working in a team, learning every day and renewing yourself within an environment that promotes people, talents and decision-making.
