  • Salary: £136,000 - £169,000

 

Role Overview:

We are looking for a Senior Head/Director of Platform Design to lead our design team to create and drive the design strategic vision for our Internal SaaS platform. This role will oversee design execution, team leadership and cross-functional collaboration, ensuring our platform meets the highest quality standards, user experience and market relevance. This senior leadership role offers a unique opportunity to shape the future of our Design Platform and have a lasting impact on the company and the industry ecosystem.

As part of the Platform and Design Function leadership team, you’ll make strategic decisions about the product, lead critical initiatives, and provide peer support. On the day-to-day, you’ll directly manage the design team in Platform, executing processes, developing internal tools and documentation improvements, leading product surface iterations, critiques and feedback, and highlighting areas of expansion for the platform/business. You’ll also help manage the design function and increase its influence across the company. Coordinating with our Go-to-Market mission and the International Markets to understand needs and create scalable features & capabilities will be critical to the success of this role.

You’ll lead on projects and designers across multiple teams to help people worldwide turn to us when they think about a financial decision. To make personal finance clearer, calmer and easier to understand. It is to help people make decisions that create greater economic well-being.

  • Strategic Leadership: Define and execute the design vision and strategy for the CS Platform, aligning with company goals to deliver high-quality user experiences for our customers and internal teams. Foster a culture of innovation within the design function, encouraging creative thinking and the adoption of new platform methodologies and technologies.
  • Team Leadership: Lead, mentor, and develop the platform design team and foster growth and collaboration within the design function to achieve a fully engaged community. Oversee design reviews and overall work output, providing constructive feedback to ensure the highest design quality/excellence level.
  • Design Execution: Maintain high design standards and processes, oversee content strategy, and manage the design system for consistency and adaptability. Maintain a robust design system to ensure consistency across the product and platforms.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with the global product, engineering, and go-to-market teams to ensure design aligns with business needs and enhances user experience.
  • Project Management: Oversee design projects from concept to completion, ensuring timely delivery, resource allocation, and issue resolution.
  • Advocacy: Promote the importance of design within the organisation and represent the company at industry events, incorporating customer feedback to improve user experience.
  • Innovation: Informed of industry trends, competitor activities, and emerging technologies to ensure the design team remains at the forefront of innovation.

Experience

Significant experience in platform design, including leadership roles within a SaaS environment

Skills

Strong leadership, communication, and strategic thinking, with expertise in content strategy, design systems, and user-centred research and design.

  1. Strategic Leadership and Vision: Primarily focused on the strategic aspects of design. Responsible for developing and implementing the design vision and direction of the Platform projects. Skilled at conceptualising innovative design solutions and guiding the team in executing these ideas.
  2. Hands-On Design Leadership: directly involved in designing key aspects of the product or guiding the design team through complex challenges. Expert in design tools and methodologies, with a portfolio demonstrating a strong ability to create compelling, user-centred designs. Focuses on ensuring that the design team’s work aligns with the creative vision and meets high standards of usability and aesthetics.
  3. Service Design and System Architecture: Ability to design scalable, secure, and efficient user experiences and tools based on the ecosystem, the user and complex architectures that support integrations and capabilities.
  4. UI/UX & Content Design: Strong user interface (UI), user experience (UX) and content design skills, ensuring intuitive, understandable and visually appealing interfaces.
  5. Design Systems: Experience in developing and maintaining design systems that ensure consistency across products and platforms.
  6. Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills to articulate design concepts and strategies to both technical and non-technical general audiences, with particular attention to senior stakeholders. Expertise in visual storytelling and translating brand strategy into compelling visual designs.
  7. Project Oversight and Collaboration: Work closely with product managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to ensure feasible design solutions align with product goals. Oversees multiple design projects, ensuring timely delivery and alignment with overall product strategy and roadmap.
  8. Adaptability: Incorporating feedback, global cultural insights, and new technologies into design practices to meet evolving user and market needs.
