DriveScore is on a mission to make car insurance fairer, smarter, and more user-friendly — and we’re looking for a talented Android Engineer to help us get there.
We’re a fast-growing scale-up within the ClearScore Group, using telematics and data analytics to reward good driving with better insurance deals. Backed by ClearScore’s 25M users and resources, we combine the energy of a startup with the stability and reach of a major tech company.
This role is ideal for an Android engineer who’s shipped commercial apps and is ready to take ownership of product features within a collaborative, cross-functional squad.
What you will be doing:
- Build and maintain features in the DriveScore app, using Jetpack Compose, Kotlin, and Kotlin Multiplatform
- Collaborate closely with product, design, and other engineers to deliver high-quality experiences
- Write clean, testable, and modular code within a multi-module architecture
- Work in a modern, fast-moving environment with robust CI/CD pipelines and feature-flag-driven development
- Collaborate closely with iOS engineers to deliver features powered by a shared Kotlin Multiplatform core.
- Learn from others and contribute to improving how we work as a team
Skills we'd love you to have
- Commercial experience delivering Android apps from inception to release and maintenance
- Strong Kotlin skills and solid knowledge of Android SDK
- Comfortable with Compose and modern Android UI design
- Good understanding of RESTful APIs and mobile networking
- Hands-on experience writing unit/UI tests
Architecture & Tooling
- Familiarity with MVVM and clean architecture principles
- Experience working with multi-module projects
- Exposure to CI/CD tools (e.g. GitHub Actions, Bitrise, Jenkins)
- Confident using Git and version control best practices
Ways of working
- Comfortable working in Agile teams using tools like Jira
- Collaborative mindset — you enjoy working with others and knowledge-sharing, and are keen to share ideas
- Familiar with feature flagging, observability, and experimentation
Bonus points
- Experience with Kotlin Multiplatform
- Exposure to backend or web technologies
