As our Application Engineer, you will join as a fundamental part of our global product development team, dedicated to supporting Hitachi Construction Machinery (HCM) dealers and mining customers in Brazil. In this role, your technical expertise and customer-centric motivation will be the engine that helps us deliver world-class results for our Mining Mobile Plant business unit, focusing on Crawler Systems, Undercarriage, Buckets, and GET.
Why join our engineering team?
-
Global Collaboration: Work closely with regional teams across North America (NAM) and South America (SAM) supporting both direct-to-customer accounts and HCM dealers, reporting directly to our Engineering Team Lead based in the USA, William Astorga.
-
Technical Excellence: Use advanced tools for solid modeling, detailed drafting, analysis, and simulation to solve complex engineering challenges and support next-generation product offerings.
-
From Concept to Component: See your designs transition from a 3D model to heavy operations through site visits, conducting in-situ validation, 3D scanning, and reverse engineering where real production happens.
-
True Remote Flexibility: We value accountability and professional autonomy. This role allows you to work completely from home anywhere in Brazil, keeping you motivated, focused, and balanced.
The Challenge
We are looking for a solution-focused professional with solid experience in heavy manufacturing or mining environments to take on the following responsibilities:

-
Design and Customization: Provide engineering expertise to develop new products and customize existing mobile plant products (Undercarriage, Crawler Systems, GET, and Buckets).
-
Data Capture & Simulation: Perform 3D CAD modeling, detailed drafting, and FEA simulation, utilizing site-based reverse engineering data (3D scans, hand measurements) to create technically sound, cost-effective solutions.
-
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with global Sales, Manufacturing, and Supply Chain teams to ensure products are designed for manufacturability and seamlessly delivered to meet customer expectations.
What you bring to the team
-
Education: Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent. A Professional Engineering Qualification is highly regarded.
-
Industry Experience: Demonstrated experience working as a design, reliability, or application engineer in a mining or heavy manufacturing environment, with specific knowledge of surface mining equipment preferred.

-
Field Readiness: Must hold a valid driver's license and possess the physical capability and willingness to travel within Brazil and occasionally overseas for site inspections, dealer training, trials, and 3D scanning.
-
Compliance & Safety: Strong knowledge of health and safety standards. Mine Hazard Training appropriate for your respective region/site environment is required.
-
Communication Skills: Fluent spoken and written English is essential for global collaboration with teams in the USA and globally, alongside native or fluent Portuguese.
