Senior Structural Engineer
BakerHicks is looking for a Senior Structural Engineer to join our established Scotland Civil & Structural Engineering team. Working as part of a multidisciplinary consultancy, you'll deliver structural engineering solutions across a diverse range of projects and sectors, applying your technical expertise to complex engineering challenges while collaborating with colleagues and clients.
As a senior member of the team, you'll take ownership of project delivery, build strong client relationships and support the development of Engineers, Graduates, Apprentices and Technicians through mentoring and technical guidance. Whether you're already Chartered or working towards professional registration, you'll have the opportunity to further develop your technical expertise while contributing to high-quality engineering solutions.
Skills & Experience
Essential
- Degree qualified in Civil or Structural Engineering (or equivalent).
- Experience delivering structural engineering projects within a UK design consultancy.
- Strong structural design, technical detailing and specification writing experience.
- Good understanding of British Standards, Eurocodes and structural loading requirements.
- Working knowledge of CDM Regulations and current UK legislation.
- Proficient in structural analysis and design software.
- Experience working within BIM environments, including Autodesk Navisworks.
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills with clients, project teams and other stakeholders.
- Understanding of quality assurance processes, compliance requirements and engineering best practice.
- Eligible to obtain UK Security Clearance.
Desirable
- Chartered or Incorporated Engineer with ICE or IStructE, or working towards professional registration.
- Experience working across multiple sectors and multidisciplinary project teams.
- Experience supporting bids, proposals and tender submissions.
- Experience mentoring or managing Engineers, Graduates, Apprentices or Technicians.
- Commercial awareness and an understanding of project financial performance.
- Experience using MasterSeries, STAAD and/or Tedds.
- Existing Security Clearance.
- Full UK driving licence.

The successful candidate must be able to obtain and maintain the appropriate level of security clearance or assurance level for this role, in line with client and sector requirements.
