Senior Structural Technician

Are you a Senior Structural Technician with strong Revit and reinforced concrete detailing experience looking to work on technically challenging projects across the UK?

At BakerHicks, you'll join a multidisciplinary engineering team delivering complex projects across aviation, defence, industrial, life sciences and infrastructure sectors. Working closely with Structural Engineers and fellow Technicians, you'll be responsible for producing and coordinating high-quality structural models and drawings, helping to deliver practical, efficient and buildable design solutions from concept through to construction.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced technician who enjoys technical detail, collaborative working and taking ownership of project delivery while supporting the development of junior team members.

What you'll do

  • Produce and coordinate detailed structural drawings and models using Revit and AutoCAD.
  • Develop reinforced concrete detailing packages, including foundations, retaining structures, slabs, walls and associated structural elements.
  • Produce structural deliverables across a range of materials including reinforced concrete, steel and timber.
  • Take ownership of drawing and modelling packages throughout all project stages.
  • Work closely with Structural Engineers and multidisciplinary design teams to deliver coordinated and buildable solutions.
  • Ensure all drawing outputs meet project requirements, relevant standards and company quality procedures.
  • Review and check your own work, as well as supporting quality reviews of junior team members' outputs.
  • Coordinate with architects, contractors, suppliers and external consultants.
  • Review supplier and subcontractor drawings to ensure compliance with design intent.
  • Support BIM delivery and contribute to the development of digital engineering best practice.
  • Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior technicians and trainees.
  • Participate in technical meetings and represent the structural team when required.

What we're looking for

  • HNC qualified in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Significant experience as a Structural Technician within an engineering consultancy environment.
  • Advanced proficiency in Autodesk Revit and AutoCAD.
  • Strong experience in reinforced concrete detailing and structural drafting.
  • Experience producing detailed structural drawings and models across multiple project phases.
  • Good understanding of structural detailing principles for reinforced concrete, steel and timber structures.
  • Knowledge of current UK standards, regulations and industry best practice.
  • Experience working within BIM-led projects and multidisciplinary teams.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to technical accuracy.
  • Excellent communication and coordination skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver work to programme deadlines.

Desirable

  • EngTech or working towards professional accreditation.
  • Experience working on projects within aviation, defence, industrial, infrastructure or life sciences sectors.
  • Previous experience supervising or mentoring junior technicians.
