The role 

You will be expected to head up the Design Management function and ensure consistency in the service provided across the division promoting best practices and continuous improvement with clear, appropriate and timely feedback on the performance of design management.  

 

To fully assist in the sales and marketing effort to include the preparation of pre-qualification, bid and tender document returns as well as attending project interviews as Yondr’s design specialist. To deliver a quality service and product to our Clients in line with the project goals by working with the professional team and applying Yondr’s systems, procedures and culture and in particular managing the review of the quality and completeness of the design to ascertain its ability to be built in accordance with both the cost plan, schedule and site Health & Safety requirements. 

  

Main responsibilities 

  • Responsible and claim ownership for the compilation approving and checking of all key design management processes, competency and initiatives.  
  • Responsible for the management of the development of the generic deliverables template, IFT and IFC schedules.  
  • Awareness of all commercial aspects of design management including estimates, change control and out-turn costs.  
  • Ensure the design solutions do not jeopardize the Yondr's safety and quality standards across all projects.  
  • Monitor key primary deliverables are executed in accordance with set KPIs and measure / report against them.  
  • Actively engage with external design team to monitor and improve the performance of CSA & MEPH designers to deliver on time and cost / value options to ensure clients' expectations are being met. 
  • Audit the design and identify inconsistencies, discrepancies and missing information and record, report and track the close-out of these items in an Information Required Schedule (IRS) format.  
  • Drive and maintain key relationships with all principal contractors and suppliers and selecting the suitable partners who could strengthen Yondr's design management performance particularly in areas such as; BIM, prefabrication, modularization, etc.  
  • Work with design teams, suppliers and construction partners to innovate and deliver project designs towards low carbon designs, construction methods and choice of materials and equipment. 
  • To support the delivery / construction team in the resolution of design related issues in a timely manner to prevent an adverse effect on the construction programme.  
  • Ensure the latest innovation and technologies available are communicated throughout the teams and the functionality / viability is understood. The aim is to ensure that YONDR Engineering Services remains at the forefront of technology and are considered market leaders.  

 

Qualifications and experience 

  • At least 15 years’ experience of highly serviced buildings and possess an understanding of the relationships between the primary mechanical, electrical and ICT elements of the build. Knowledge of Data Centres or Research and Academic buildings is a must.  
  • Prior construction design and or design management experience or Architectural, Structural or M&E qualifications would be preferred.  
  • In-depth knowledge of the design and construction process, both refurbishment and fit out. Track record of delivering successful sizable projects.  
  • Commercially savvy and support the commercial team to identify opportunities arising from design development and equally manage change control communications.  
  • Someone who is a good organizer / system implementer who is able to effectively mitigate risks and exposures.  
  • Sensitive to political situations - good relationship builder, team player and strong communication skills (written and verbal).  
  • Experience in managing working relationships (internal & external) with cross-cultural experience.  
  • Experience working with information technology workstreams to improve systems
