Director, Corporate Communications

Veeam seeks a strategic, results-driven, and well-connected senior corporate communications professional to lead the communications function in Asia Pacific and Japan (APJ). The role will drive communications programs, including Public Relations (PR), analyst relations (AR), and executive communications (both internal and external) across the region. The successful candidate will be a team player and work closely with our executives, marketing teams, and PR agency partners to create, drive, and manage successful and impactful communications campaigns.

As a critical part of our public relations team under the Global Corporate Communications department, the successful candidate will have the opportunity to partner with other professionals worldwide in AR, PR, social media, and internal communications.

The role is based in Asia, with a preference for Singapore but other regional locations are possible, and will require some international travel.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • A minimum of 10 years in communications (agency and in-house positions) and/or marketing communications experience, ideally in a Business-to-Business (B2B) industry.
  • Proven experience within PR, AR, as well as with other communications disciplines and marketing functions in the B2B technology industry (ideally with PR agency experience).
  • Proven track record of developing and driving successful programs, campaigns, and thought leadership initiatives, including experience in content development within a relevant field or industry and ability to consistently deliver creative, original thinking across multiple topics.
  • Experience in leading a high-performing international team.
  • Ability to successfully manage and support a network of PR agencies and third-party vendors
  • Knowledge of/relationships with key industry and business media across APJ as well as relevant analysts as a bonus that has led to impactful, consistent media coverage and results.
  • Proficient English language speaker and writer.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Spearhead the APJ communications strategy, driving execution toward desired results. 
  • Adapt clear messaging that supports Veeam’s umbrella awareness and brand reference program.
  • Oversee the execution of influencer activities across the region, with a specific focus on thought leadership programs and analyst relations, to drive Veeam’s brand visibility and reputation.
  • Manage and support a network of PR agencies to ensure KPIs are met; keep the team informed and motivated, working together and sharing best practices while utilizing the entire team for solid execution and maximizing Veeam’s brand awareness and thought leadership opportunities across media and other influencers.
  • Advance and drive the positioning program for regional executives that includes the creation of storylines/unique angles of opinion.
  • Budget management with forecasting and planning; focus on delivering a strong return from PR activities, with complete alignment to sales and marketing plans for APJ.
  • Manage regional spokesperson development program in line with corporate messaging and priorities.
  • Development and support of external messaging on Veeam’s technology and solutions through tight collaboration with key regional and corporate stakeholders.
  • Liaison and ongoing engagement with Veeam´s partner ecosystem to support strategic campaigns thought leadership, and customer references.
  • Drive special communication projects in support of critical corporate communications priorities.
  • Deep involvement in the region’s customer reference program (focus on win stories and joint communications activities).
  • Close collaboration with the region’s Senior Vice President on strategic internal communications and employee all-hands.
  • Drive high-stakes and special projects, including M&A, crisis, and issues management.

  • Demonstrated ability to effectively collaborate, partner, and drive for results with customers and key stakeholders
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills – written and verbal
  • Proven history of aligning with senior management (VP and C-Suite) to maximize relationships and accelerate program results and impact
  • Comfortable with influencing and communicating with all levels of the organization
  • Deep understanding of influencer marketing, paid media strategy development, social media, and experience in amplifying customer success stories
  • Excels at creative storytelling and pushes for new ways to engage audiences
  • Sees a way through challenges and approaches problems with a solutions mindset
  • Self-directed, as well as a team player; proactive, efficient and energetic
  • Ability to think and communicate strategically and effectively with all levels of the organization
  • Sound judgement, a knack for diplomacy, experience with project management with multiple stakeholders, and the confidence to engage and build consensus with functional leaders at all levels
  • Thrives in a collaborative environment and is willing to roll up their sleeves to get the job done
  • Ability to multi-task and take initiative as a result of excellent work ethic, time management, and organization skills

REPORTING RELATIONSHIP AND ACCOUNTABILITY

  • This position reports directly to the vice president of global corporate communications and will be part of the Veeam Corporate Communications team. This role will work in close partnership with the region’s senior leaders and will be part of the region’s marketing leadership team.
