Country Manager Spain (gn) - ESN
As the Country Manager (gn) for Spain at ESN, you will play a pivotal role in shaping and driving the strategic direction for the Spanish market, ensuring that our initiatives align with the company’s growth objectives and position ESN for long-term success in the region.
Responsibilites
· You build the market from the ground, growing the brand omnichannel from day one
· You build and share fundamental market knowledge by collecting market and consumer insights as a foundation for the country strategy (through store checks, gym visits, event and trade fair participations, quantitative and qualitative consumer research, etc.)
· You develop the country strategy and local brand concept in collaboration with the brand marketing team, incl. defining target audience focus, product priorities, brand and product positioning
· You define a holistic marketing activation calendar, plan and implement local marketing and sales initiatives (e.g., events, sampling activations, guerilla marketing, sponsorships, brand campaigns, etc.)
· You grow a strong local network with key commercial contacts in relevant target communities (e.g., build relationships for retail and gym expansion)
· You define the B2B expansion roadmap in close coordination with the B2B team
· You continuously optimize performance by constantly questioning the status quo, identifying growth levers, defining and implementing action plans, and leading data-driven discussions
· You drive country projects and temporary priorities incl. preparation of business cases and analyses (e.g., new channel onboarding, local certifications, logistics improvements, webshop optimizations, etc.)
· You ensure a competitive customer journey incl. driving initial CX optimization (e.g., regular website benchmarking, test orders, customer interviews, etc.)
· You manage financial and operative country performance (incl. full P&L responsibility) and derive improvement levers
· You manage the country team and orchestrate functions and channels to ensure consistent execution in line with country priorities
Your experience & skills

You bring multi-year experience in scaling up an FMCG brand in the Spanish market, ideally from a role such as Country Manager or a comparable senior marketing position

You have commercial and B2B experience in sports nutrition or adjacent categories – existing retail relationships are a strong advantage

You demonstrate strong marketing expertise, with a proven track record of developing compelling brand and product concepts and successfully launching them in new markets

You possess deep market knowledge and a genuine passion for sports nutrition, including a thorough understanding of local market dynamics, consumer needs, the competitive landscape, product trends, and key channels

You embody a strong brand and cultural fit with ESN, including living its core values, showing an athlete mindset, and a passion for sports

You operate with an entrepreneurial mindset, combining strategic vision, creativity, initiative, and hands-on execution skills – all while being adaptable and comfortable with ambiguity

You are a collaborative team player with leadership capabilities, ideally backed by a successful track record in building and leading high-performing country teams
