Financial Operations Engineer

This role will support the optimization of cloud costs, monitor usage, and implement financial governance for StubHub’s technology infrastructure. In this entry-level role, you will support the implementation and optimization of financial operations (FinOps) practices across our cloud environments. Working closely with engineering, finance, and procurement teams, you will help monitor cloud usage, analyze spend patterns, identify cost-saving opportunities, and ensure financial accountability across cloud services.
The ideal candidate has a foundational understanding of cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP), a strong analytical mindset, and a passion for bridging the gap between finance and technology.
Location: Hybrid (3 days in office/2 days remote) – Atlanta, GA
What You’ll Do:
- Write and optimize SQL queries to extract and analyze financial data from cloud billing systems.
- Analyze cloud usage and spending patterns using AWS services such as Athena, Glue, and QuickSight.
- Develop and maintain dashboards and visualizations in Grafana to monitor and alert on cloud cost metrics.
- Monitor and report on Microsoft Azure resource usage and costs.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement cost-saving strategies and forecasting models.
- Develop, document, and maintain policy and procedures for accurate cost attribution.
- Customize and update monthly cost reporting for engineering department leads.
- Automate FinOps processes to improve efficiency and accuracy.
- Contribute to the monthly and annual infrastructure cost forecast.
- Partner with engineering leaders to create cost budgets and forecasts for new projects and initiatives.
What You've Done:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Finance, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- 1-2 years of experience in cloud financial operations or a related role.
- Proficiency with AWS services, including Athena, Glue, and QuickSight.
- Understanding of AWS Cost and usage reports.
- Hands-on experience with Grafana or other tools for creating dashboards and visualizations.
- Strong SQL skills for querying and analyzing large datasets.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Azure cost management and monitoring tools.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication skills to collaborate with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Certifications in AWS (e.g., AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner) or Azure (e.g., Azure Fundamentals).
- Experience with cloud cost optimization tools or frameworks.
- Knowledge of scripting languages (e.g., Python) for automation.
- Strong understanding of public clouds and infrastructure fundamentals.

The anticipated gross base pay range is below for this role. Actual compensation will vary depending on factors such as a candidate’s qualifications, skills, experience, and competencies. Base annual salary is one component of StubHub’s total compensation and competitive benefits package, which includes equity, 401(k), paid time off, paid parental leave, and comprehensive health benefits.

$100,000 - $130,000 USD
