Cyber Security Specialist

About the job:

The Cyber Security Specialist is responsible for protecting the organization’s information systems, data, and critical infrastructure against cyber threats. Operating in a mission-critical data center environment, this role focuses on prevention, detection, response, and continuous improvement of cybersecurity controls, ensuring alignment with business objectives, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices.

Working closely with ICT, Facilities, Operations, and external partners to ensure security is embedded by design, not bolted on after an incident.

Key Responsibilities

Cybersecurity Operations & Monitoring

• Monitor, detect, and respond to cybersecurity incidents across IT, OT, and data center environments.
• Operate and improve security tools such as SIEM, EDR, IDS/IPS, and vulnerability management platforms.
• Perform root cause analysis and post-incident reviews, driving corrective and preventive actions.

Risk Management & Compliance

• Support cybersecurity risk assessments, threat modeling, and security audits.
• Ensure alignment with relevant frameworks and standards (e.g., ISO 27001, NIST, IEC 62443, SOC 2, GDPR).
• Contribute to compliance with European regulations, including NIS2 and data protection requirements.

Architecture & Secure Design

• Collaborate with ICT and infrastructure teams to ensure secure-by-design solutions for networks, systems, and cloud services.
• Review security aspects of new technologies, vendors, and system changes, particularly in data center and critical infrastructure contexts.
• Support secure segmentation between IT and OT environments.

Awareness & Continuous Improvement

• Contribute to cybersecurity awareness initiatives and internal best practices.
• Stay up to date with emerging threats, vulnerabilities, and industry trends affecting data centers and critical infrastructure.
• Support the continuous improvement of cybersecurity policies, procedures, and playbooks.

Required Experience & Skills

• 3–6 years of experience in cybersecurity, information security, or a related ICT role.
• Degree in Cybersecurity, Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
• Relevant certifications are valued (e.g., CISSP, CISM, CEH, Security+, ISO 27001 Lead Implementer/Auditor), but practical experience matters more than acronyms.
• Hands-on experience with security monitoring, incident response, and vulnerability management.
• Strong understanding of network security, operating systems, identity and access management, and cloud security concepts.
• Exposure to OT, industrial control systems, or critical infrastructure environments is a strong plus.
• Solid understanding of cybersecurity frameworks and standards (ISO 27001, NIST, CIS, IEC 62443).
• Familiarity with European regulatory requirements (GDPR, NIS/NIS2).
• Experience working with third-party vendors, MSSPs, or security consultants.
• Analytical mindset with strong problem-solving skills.
• Ability to communicate complex security topics in clear, business-relevant language.
• Comfortable working in high-availability, high-responsibility environments.
• Collaborative approach, with the confidence to challenge decisions when security is at risk.
