Profile Overview

As Head of Engineering at picdrop, you will define and lead the engineering vision of a mature yet evolving SaaS product, balancing strategic leadership with pragmatic execution. You will be responsible for heading up the technical organization, improving engineering velocity and quality, and ensuring that picdrop’s platform remains secure, performant, and ready for future growth, especially in our expanding B2B segment. This role offers the opportunity to work with a long-tenured team, modernize ways of working, and shape how technology enables both creative professionals and enterprise customers.

Your immediate impact in the first 3-6 months will be:

Build strong trust-based relationships with the existing engineering team and team leads, establishing yourself as a credible, motivating people leader

Assess and improve engineering processes, delivery velocity, and collaboration using Shape Up and outcome-oriented metrics

Take ownership of the technical roadmap together with Product, with a strong focus on platform scalability, reliability, and B2B readiness

Your responsibilities

Technical leadership and strategy:

  • Define and execute the engineering vision and technical strategy, working together with the leadership team in alignment with picdrop’s product and business goals
  • Oversee platform architecture with a strong focus on scalability, performance, security, and long-term maintainability

Team Management and Growth:

  • Lead, mentor, and develop the engineering organization, fostering a culture of ownership, collaboration, and continuous improvement
  • Support and grow existing team leads, ensuring clear roles, strong leadership alignment, and long-term team stability

Execution and Delivery:

  • Drive execution excellence across the full development lifecycle, ensuring high-quality, timely, and reliable delivery together with Product
  • Ensure operational excellence across engineering, including delivery processes, technical quality, and cost-aware decision-making

Cross-functional Collaboration and Stakeholder Management:

  • Partner closely with Product, Customer Success, Marketing, and leadership to translate customer and business needs into technical solutions
  • Act as a strong sparring partner to Product and leadership, clearly communicating technical trade-offs and advocating for engineering initiatives that support business outcomes

What You bring to the table

  • Proven experience of leading engineering teams in a SaaS environment, including senior front-end, back-end and full-stack developers.
  • Strong background in platform architecture and operating large, storagedata-heavy, high-availability systems
  • Experience working with B2B customers and understanding enterprise requirements such as security, compliance, and scalability
  • Hands-on technical credibility with the ability to guide architectural decisions without being a day-to-day coding bottleneck
  • Experience with modern development processes and delivery frameworks (experience with Shape Up is a strong plus)
