Reporting to the Data Product Quality Lead, the Data Quality Analyst is part of the Data team and will play a pivotal role to shape how testing is done and ensure quality and reliability of the platform that underpins our future growth.
You will oversee and input to all aspects of quality assurance including applying industry best practices, developing new testing solutions and methods, and establishing metrics. You will be responsible for the testing and validation of data pipelines, platforms, and products. In this role, you will work closely with the departments’ Product Owners, coordinating with QA and developers as well as liaising with key project stakeholders as required.
This role offers challenges across a wide variety of products and responsibilities, including the opportunity to influence the quality assurance practice within this department. It is ideal for a Data Quality Analyst who thrives in ambiguity, brings strong technical acumen, and is passionate and hands on.
Major Responsibilities
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Follow and evolve QA processes to ensure the use of industry-accepted best practices.
- Develop and execute test cases, scripts, plans and procedures (manual and automated) including regressions tests to confirm the development meets functional requirements.
- Run automated and manual test scripts.
- Ensure effective and efficient application of data testing processes and tools.
- Collaborate with the team to establish and enhance test automation practices, incorporating modern tools and frameworks as part of test strategies.
- Troubleshoot and investigate defects for the data products.
- Report defects found during testing using Jira as a defect tracking tool.
- Conduct new functionality and regression tests, determine and report issues for follow-up.
- Collaborate with the business to assess or diagnose problems and suggest possible solutions.
- Support end users during User Acceptance Testing phase.
- Build and maintain good communication with all stakeholders involved in the SDLC while working close with them during the different phases.
- Ensure testing aligns with data governance and compliance standards.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience
Must Have:
- Minimum of 2 years working in a similar role
- Experience in software business analysis and/or software quality assurance.
- Ability to troubleshoot issues and manage priorities effectively
- Ability to create future-proof reusable test cases
- Comfortable working with remote teams
- Excellent personal organisation and ability to prioritise and carry out multiple tasks
- Able to influence and drive projects to meet key milestones and overcome challenges
- Possess the ability to work in a fast-paced environment that supports production and maintenance level changes
- Comfortable working without routine supervision
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Nice to have:
- Working knowledge of Databricks, Power BI and other data and analytical tools.
- Experience in maritime or environmental sectors.
