Reporting to the Senior Manager – Data Products, the Data Product Quality Lead will be part of the Data team and is responsible for transforming our data capability, bringing together years of industry expertise with the output from analytics and large data sets to deliver improvement to quality across critical data sets required for our safety and environmental scoring systems, and core processes including vetting services.
You will oversee and lead all aspects of data quality assurance including applying industry best practices, developing new testing solutions and methods, and establishing metrics. You will be responsible for the testing and validation of data pipelines, platforms, and products. In this role, you will work closely with the departments’ Product Owners, coordinating with QA and developers as well as liaising with key project stakeholders as required.
In this role, you will lead the data testing strategy across a wide variety of products and responsibilities, ensure data accuracy and integrity across systems, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality, trusted data solutions.
Major Responsibilities
DATA MANAGEMENT
- Provide subject matter expertise in data management and governance
- Liaise with Data Governance to establish and own a proactive data quality management framework
- Drive adoption of data quality culture across the organization.
- Effectively and efficiently manage data quality and validation activity
- Use your ability to influence and support a diverse set of stakeholder groups to effectively manage Data Quality issues and incidents, contribute to the identification and remediation of issues
- Manage master data, including creation, updates, protection and deletion
- Ensure that data produced and provided is complete, accurate, valid and relevant using system validation and exception / control reports and consistent with regulation and internal policies
- Data quality measurement and monitoring and data quality issue management and remediation
- Develop reports and provide analysis
ADMINISTRATION SUPPORT
- Monitor and maintain quality assurance checking across Project Manager schedules and reports
- Assess the quality of analysis and action plans related to operational issues and collaborate with relevant stakeholders to ensure effective resolution when necessary.
- Offer support and guidance to data product users to help ensure that the information meets organizational and customer requirements.

QUALITY AND STANDARDS
- Support the implementation of global processes and instructions
- Ensure that all governance and compliance procedures, policies and standards are followed to mitigate any potential risk to RightShip
- Contribute to continuous improvement of testing processes, tools, and documentation
Qualifications, Skills and Experience
Must Have:
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, Information Systems, Data Science, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience working in data testing, QA, or similar roles.
- Ability to lead testing efforts across multiple projects and remote teams.
- Able to influence and drive projects to meet key milestones and overcome challenges
- Possess the ability to work in a fast-paced environment that supports production and maintenance level changes
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong understanding of data structures, ETL processes, and data warehousing concepts.
- Proficiency in SQL and scripting languages.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
- Experience with automated testing tools and frameworks for data.
Nice to have:
- Working knowledge of Databricks, Power BI and other data and analytical tools.
- Experience in maritime or environmental sectors.
