Business Development Manager - Americas

As world-recognised maritime safety and environmental experts, RightShip has an ambitious vision to expand its influence in safety, sustainability and crew welfare using the best innovation, digitalisation and data-focused solutions in the Americas shipping market.
Working closely with the Head of EMEA, the Business Development Manager (Americas) will implement new business initiatives within large accounts and identify new sales and customer growth opportunities.
You will work closely with the Product Team to ensure a competitive and compelling service and product offering. You will be responsible for setting up meetings with prospective customers and formulating commercial arrangements.
The Business Development Manager (Americas) is responsible for raising RightShip profile, growing RightShip’s customer portfolio and delivering strong sales performance in the Americas region thereby contributing to RightShip’s wider business success and Return on Purpose (ROP).
Major Responsibilities
STRATEGY
- Identify priority growth areas and help develop and implement business development plans.
- Set short and medium-term business objectives with the Head of EMEA and be responsible for the implementation and attainment of the agreed plan.
- Evaluate and identify market opportunities and work with the Head of EMEA and other internal stakeholders to evaluate the feasibility of new markets and entry options.
- Build out commercial business cases to support growth initiatives including end to end strategies which will drive sales, promotional activity, financial analysis & reporting.
- Use appropriate systems and tools to deliver all required reports to support decision making.
- Maintain up to date knowledge of activity in the South America region shipping market including information on competitors.
SALES
- Act as the first point of contact for new potential clients in the middle east region when they are seeking information on products and services RightShip provides.
- Research organisations and individuals to find new opportunities with targeted focus on dry bulk charterers, oil and gas charterers, trading and commodity organisations to develop an effective sales pipeline.
- Execute sales pipeline to drive business growth in customer numbers and revenue, maintaining prioritised focus on dry bulk charterers, oil and gas charterers, trading and commodity organisations.
- Remain aware of adjacent shipping segments that could result in growth and acquisition of customers in the region in line with the regional and corporate business plan (e.g. Finance & Insurance Customers).
- Maintain business continuity and assist in driving customer satisfaction by ensuring appropriate handovers of customers between departments like sales, client management.
STAKEHOLDER ENGAGEMENT
- Leverage existing and develop new strategic relationships in the Americas region to facilitate growth.
- Communicate RightShip’s product and service portfolio and new business strategy to customers and key stakeholders.
- Represent RightShip at relevant conferences and events with a focus on raising profile, developing network connections and driving growth.
- Liaise with internal stakeholders to deliver relevant market insights and feedback to help refine and shape existing and new products and services.
Qualifications, Skills & Attributes
- Extensive experience in generating new business and achieving revenue growth with demonstrable results.
- Ability to forge new relationships and credibility quickly and effectively.
- Experience in creating brand awareness and identifying and executing branding activities.
- Experience in driving scale up operations with ability to work independently in the region to grow RightShip’s footprint.
- Experience working in SaaS or PaaS sales and/or software sales highly advantageous.
- Strong business acumen, with a penchant for data and insights to support innovation.
- Excellent negotiation, influencing, interpersonal and presentation skills.
- Excellent communication skills & proficiency in spoken and written English.
- A personal commitment to improve safety, environmental and social sustainability of the maritime industry.
