CRM & Lifecycle Marketing Lead (B2B)

London; Barcelona

About Proton

Join Proton and build a better internet where privacy is the default

Proton is one of Europe's fastest-growing technology companies, serving over 100 million users worldwide. Founded in 2014 by scientists who met at CERN, we've built a trusted ecosystem of privacy-first products — Proton Mail, Proton VPN, Proton Drive, and Proton Pass.
Our mission is to create ethical, secure alternatives to Big Tech by putting privacy, transparency, and user trust first. We're profitable, independent, and funded by our community — not venture capital. Today Proton employs 500+ people across 50+ nationalities, headquartered in Geneva with offices across Europe and beyond.
As we scale our B2B business, CRM and lifecycle marketing are becoming critical growth engines. We're looking for a CRM & Lifecycle Marketing Lead to own, unify, and scale lifecycle strategy and operations across both segments.

The role

This is a senior individual contributor role, for someone who can set a B2B CRM & Lifecycle strategy and build it themselves. You'll own Proton's B2B CRM & Lifecycle programs end to end, from first touch to renewal and expansion, and operate as the authority for Proton for Business.
Our B2B motion is hybrid: businesses buy through a self-serve and sales-led motion, and through partners and MSPs. HubSpot is implemented but still early in its maturity. Your mandate is to close the gap between what it can do and what it delivers today, by building the lifecycle architecture, automation and data foundations that turn sign-ups and leads into pipeline, paying accounts, adoption and expansion.
You'll be equally comfortable designing a lifecycle framework, configuring the platform that runs it, and digging into the data to prove it works. You know which product events, account attributes and intent signals each program needs, and you work closely with RevOps, Data and Martech to get them into the CRM. You operate through influence and systems ownership rather than headcount, and you've done this before in a fast-moving B2B SaaS scale-up.

What you'll do

B2B lifecycle strategy

  • Own the end-to-end B2B lifecycle strategy across self-serve, sales-led and partner motions.
  • Define and operationalise the core programs: lead nurture, trial and admin onboarding, seat activation and adoption, renewal, churn prevention, plan upgrade, cross-sell and win-back.
  • Design at both contact and account level, reaching the admin, the economic buyer and end users with the right message at each stage.
  • Embed lifecycle thinking across Marketing, Sales, Customer Success and Product.

CRM operations

  • Take Proton's CRM from early-stage to mature, fully operationalised use, as owner and primary admin of the marketing side of the platform.
  • Establish clean lifecycle-stage and lead-status definitions, robust lead and account scoring, including product-qualified signals from self-serve usage.
  • Build and run MQL to SQL orchestration with Sales and RevOps: routing, handoff and SLAs.
  • Own forms, campaign tracking, UTM standards and marketing attribution, so every program can be tied to pipeline and revenue.
  • Own marketing data hygiene, governance, consent and GDPR compliance.

Expansion, retention & partners

  • Partner with Customer Success on onboarding, health signals and renewal journeys for existing accounts.
  • Build expansion triggers for seat growth, plan upgrades and cross-sell into the wider Proton suite.
  • Support partner and MSP programs with lifecycle journeys for partner recruitment, enablement and the customers they bring.

Data & enablement

  • Define the data foundation B2B lifecycle runs on: the product events, account attributes and intent signals each program needs.
  • Work with RevOps and Data to get billing, usage and firmographic data into HubSpot reliably.
  • Work with the Data Team to bring predictive models into production: churn propensity, expansion propensity and fit or intent scoring.
  • Act as the business voice into Martech, defining what new capabilities must deliver and signing off on what's built.

Reporting & optimisation

  • Own funnel and lifecycle KPIs: lead to MQL to SQL to closed-won conversion, velocity, activation, retention and expansion.
  • Work with Data Analytics and RevOps to give Marketing, Sales, CS and Leadership clear visibility into lifecycle performance.
  • Run a structured test-and-learn program and maintain an optimisation roadmap of what's working, what isn't and what scales.

Cross-functional leadership

  • Act as the connective tissue between Marketing, Sales, Customer Success, Product, RevOps and Data around a single account view.
  • Make sure CRM and lifecycle workflows fit how Sales and CS actually operate.
  • Enable stakeholders on CRM discipline, and build the documentation, standards and processes that scale with the company.

What you'll bring

  • Significant experience in B2B lifecycle marketing, CRM or marketing operations in a SaaS company, ideally a scale-up.
  • Deep, hands-on CRM and Marketing Automation expertise, configured and run yourself; certification is a plus.
  • Experience with hybrid self-serve and sales-led motions.
  • Highly analytical and commercially minded, comfortable with account segmentation and experimentation.
  • A systems thinker who enjoys building scalable foundations in a privacy-first environment, with working knowledge of GDPR and consent management.
  • Proton is an office-first company. We expect you to spend most of your time in the office, and while we do offer some flexibility to work from home, we believe in-person collaboration helps us build the best products.

What We Offer

  • Work that Matters: millions of people trust Proton with their privacy. We answer only to our users — not advertisers, not investors with conflicting agendas, not governments. The work you do here is real, and the impact is measurable. (read more about our impact here)

  • Stock Options: at Proton, we all have the opportunity to be owners of the company. From day one, you have a real stake in what we're building. When Proton wins, you win.

  • Technology: you'll get the right hardware and the right software you need to do your best work.

  • Learning & Development: we invest in your growth because sharp people make us better. Proton is one of the fastest ways to accelerate your career because you'll be thrown into real challenges, with real ownership, from day one.

  • Employee Benefits: your wellbeing isn't an afterthought. We offer strong health coverage, solid retirement options, generous leave, and wellness support so you can bring your best self to work every day

  • In-Person Collaboration: Amazing things happen when passionate, smart, and purposeful people get together in the same room. With offices across Geneva, Zürich, Barcelona, London and more, you'll spend most of your time collaborating face-to-face with people who genuinely care about what they're building

  • Food: Lunch and snacks are on us every day in our offices so you can focus on the work and not on what's for lunch.

  • Transport: getting to the office shouldn't cost you. We cover public transport, bike allowances, or parking, whichever works for you.

  • Flexible Working: you own your schedule. Set hours that work for you and your team — because outcomes matter more than when the clock says you started.
