Growth Manager - B2B (VPN)

London; Paris; Barcelona; Prague

Join Proton and build a better internet where privacy is the default

Proton is one of Europe’s fastest-growing tech scale-ups, trusted by more than 200 million users worldwide. Proton Mail, the world's largest encrypted email service, was launched in 2014 by scientists who met at CERN. Today, Proton offers a suite of privacy-focused tools, including Proton VPN (a no-logs, open-source VPN), Proton Drive (encrypted cloud storage), and Proton Pass (secure password manager), among others. We've been featured in the New York Times, the Guardian, Der Spiegel, Le Monde, and more.

Our mission is to build a better internet by providing private, open-source, and user-friendly alternatives to Big Tech services. Proton is fully independent, profitable, and not backed by venture capital. We’re a global team of over 500 people from more than 50 nationalities, headquartered in Geneva, with offices in Zurich, London, Paris, Barcelona, Taipei, Skopje, Vilnius, and Prague.

As one of Europe’s most dynamic technology companies, we offer the opportunity to work on meaningful challenges that impact millions of people. Our goal isn’t just to build a successful business—we’re here to help shape a more open and equitable internet for everyone.

Role Overview

We’re looking for an experienced Growth Manager to help drive the expansion of our B2B VPN business. While Proton VPN is already one of the world’s leading VPN services, our B2B offering is still in an early growth phase. You’ll play a key role in shaping its trajectory—defining product positioning, pricing strategy, acquisition channels, and sales loops.

This is a hands-on, strategic role that calls for both analytical thinking and a strong sense of curiosity about technology. It’s also a high-visibility, cross-functional position—you’ll collaborate closely with teams across Product, Marketing, Sales, Customer Success, and Data on a global scale.

What You’ll Do

  • Growth strategy: own the end-to-end B2B growth strategy for Proton VPN. Identify high-impact growth levers across channels, define KPIs, and execute scalable, data-driven campaigns that drive qualified leads and self-serve subscriptions for Proton’s VPN for Business product.
  • Inbound: design full-funnel marketing programs, including paid acquisition, SEO and CRO, in collaboration with our central Marketing team.
  • Outbound: build outbound campaigns from the ground up and define the structure of our outbound team.
  • Content & thought leadership: develop a content strategy that positions Proton as a trusted authority in online security and privacy for businesses, in partnership with Marketing, Product and Sales.
  • Customer lifecycle: create lifecycle communications that engage, retain, and grow B2B customers across every stage—from onboarding and activation to renewal and expansion.
  • Marketing automation & tooling: optimize marketing automation tools (e.g. HubSpot) to support lead nurturing, scoring, and segmentation. Ensure the marketing tech stack is integrated, efficient, and aligned with sales workflows and attribution tracking.
  • Analytics & reporting: define and track key marketing performance indicators. In collaboration with our Data team, build our analytics stack.

What You'll Bring

  • Experience in a fast-growing B2B environment, whether in a marketing / growth role or in a strategic role. Experience with self-serve and / or sales-led acquisition.
  • You need to be hands on. Proton’s culture is not corporate, and we expect our leaders to lead from the front.
  • Analytical and data driven. This is important at Proton, and we welcome candidates with scientific or engineering backgrounds who now work in marketing or growth.
  • Cost-efficient mindset. Proton is a bootstrapped startup. We’re creative and efficient, because that’s how we will win in the long run.
  • Not necessary, but valued: proven track record of driving revenue through outbound sales.
  • Not necessary, but valued: experience building teams and processes from scratch, since Proton is just starting in B2B.

What We Offer

  • Technology: we provide all the devices and software you need to excel in your role, ensuring you have the best tools at your disposal to achieve your goals
  • Learning & Development: we are committed to your professional growth – Proton offers various learning opportunities, including training programs, conferences/events and continual learning
  • Employee Benefits: comprehensive health insurance plans, competitive retirement savings options, generous vacation/leave policies and wellness programs
  • Stock Options: at Proton, we are all owners of the company and you get stock options when you join us
  • In-Person Collaboration: collaboration is easier and more effective in person, which is why we have offices in Geneva, Zurich, Prague, Barcelona, Paris, London, Vilnius, Skopje and Taipei – you can enjoy working from home for up to 30% of the time, while enjoying great company culture during our three core days in the office (depending on the role, fully remote positions may also be available)
  • Food: lunch and snacks are provided by Proton every day at our offices
  • Transport: we'll always support our employees with transport costs through subsidising public transport, bike allowances or parking spaces based on your office location
  • Flexible Working: you can define your own working hours as long as it works with team meetings
  • Work that Matters: Proton is a community-first organisation, started with the support of a crowdfunding campaign and built with community input – to this day, Proton’s only source of revenue is user subscriptions: over 100 million people trust and support Proton, and we put our users and community first in everything we do (read more about our impact here)
