Deputy Head of Finance/Local Chief Finance Officer (EMI-Specialized, Malta)

We're thrilled to be expanding our operations into a new market, having recently received a Maltese license. To support this exciting phase of growth, we are seeking a highly experienced and strategic Chief Financial Officer to establish and oversee all financial aspects of our operations in Malta and globally.
Your regular tasks
- Develop and execute financial strategies aligned with the company's goals
- Oversee the preparation and submission of accurate financial reports, ensuring compliance with GAAP and IFRS standards including any other relevant standards
- Manage cash flow, P&L performance and efficient treasure operations
- Financial control experience with a focus on prudent funds and cost management
- Lead internal and external audits, addressing findings effectively
- Build and manage a high-performing finance team
- Develop financial models to aid strategic planning and scenario analysis
- Provide actionable financial insights to support executive decision-making
- Ensure compliance with local and international financial regulations
- The company may require the hired candidate to act as an official representative in interactions with regulators and authorities and appoint for the regulatory representative nomination with the Malta Central Bank, MFSA and any other relevant authorities
- Data extraction, analysis and structuring for reporting purposes
Skills & Requirements
- 5+ years of experience in financial roles within fintech or related industries, at least 1 year of managerial experience
- Understanding of payment systems and electronic money operations
- Expertise in regulatory compliance, financial reporting standards (GAAP, IFRS), and tax regulations
- Familiarity with financial reports for regulators, including Central Banks or MFSA (Malta Financial Services Authority)
- Demonstrated success in managing cash flow, liquidity, and audits
- Proficiency in financial analysis, scenario planning, and strategic decision-making
- Experience in corporate finance, including capital structure and budgeting
- Skilled in using financial software and systems to enhance operational efficiency
- Proven ability to lead and develop high-performing teams in dynamic environments
- Familiarity with ERP systems (Odoo, SAP, 1C, Oracle)
- Fluent English and Ukrainian/Russian is a must
- Maltese language would be a plus
- Work permit, Malta-based
Education
- A Master’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field is preferred
- Professional certifications such as CPA, CFA, or ACCA are a plus
